Airsoft gun on COPS?
Just wondering if anyone else watched cops tonight (Sat.29) There was some kid (15 I think) who got arrested with what looked to be an airsoft Glock. This could (or may already have had) have an impact on the airsoft community. If anyone saw this, or wants to give imput I'd love to hear it.

I remeber seeing that over the summer. I'm not sure but he blamed his brother or something. I just wanted to stomp the shit out of that kid right that second because its just stupid...

Yeah, it was in the States - so that's good it wont affect us.
As for being stupid, he definitly was. I too was very angry while watching that call. Very happy that he got it taken/ went to jail. Thanks guys for the quick replies. |
If it was in the states it probably was a real glock.
|
No, they had said it was a bb gun, so I assumed it was an airsoft gun since it was so realistic.
|
Yeah, if it was airsoft, I'd say it had a metal slide and barel kit on it. It didnt look like a cheap gun to me.
|
IIRC i saw that Ep. last july, it was indeed a FMU Glock, they mention it being a "BB gun" at least once during the segment...

Why on earth would this have any effect on us? Firstly, the episode first aired about two years ago, and secondly being in the US it could have just as easily have been a real Glock.

Oh N03z! Not again for the 4th time this month... |
Considering COPS shows re-runs from the late 80's and early 90's how do you even know what decade this was from? On a side note, you'd figure that with all the crime that takes place they could come up with some new fucking episodes.

If the States were to make airsoft illegal it surely would affect canada as well, as our law makers look to see what other countries are doing in law, and sometimes the US puts pressure on Canada to create and change laws.

Replica guns(airsoft)
Already compose almost 50% of weapons seized in most arrests here in Toronto.
Most of the gang members "carrying" are toting replicas. A telltale bulge under the shirt.. or the gangland "flash" of a weapon is about intimidation .. and a replica works as well as a real gun for that. A recent sweep of gang members yielded a haul of some 24 "prohibited weapons" of which 14 were replicas. Replica firearms are already proscribed under the law...they are already "illegal" if improperly used. There is no need to worry about "airsoft being made illegal" there are enough laws to serve the public good for abusers of airsoft weapons. |
