AR-15 SPR open bolt GBB Build - Is a "WE M4" platform my best option?

Looking to build a AR-15 SPR GBB open bolt with 18" barrel and I am wondering whats my best option in terms of manufacturer?

I want to get as close as possible in terms "real steel" for the upper and lower receivers in terms of proportions, and don't care about realistic "trades" as I will roll my own.

I also do not want a monolithic upper receiver so that rules out the "PTS Mega Arms MKM AR15"!

Is a "WE M4" the way to go?

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!

Nope, for GBB's there's a lot more than WE, and WE sucks. But you get what you pay for.

And then?

Kj works is much better plus you can use TM spec outer barrel with minor modifications but you are stuck with a collapsing stock though

I dont own one personally, but based off what a lot of people have been saying, WE has really stepped up their game lately.

Personally, I would go for GHK though.

I think WE is the way to go the more I look into their products these days!

I love my WE m4s and swear by them. I own 2, I can say that I've given my AEG 'back up' out more as a loaner when peoples AEGs have gone down allot more than ive ever needed to use my back up cause my GBB has gone down.

Had my we 416 for example seasons. Had 1 failure (the nozzle return spring) no other issues aside from gen 1 leaky mags

What's your budget?

GHK M4 are great and reliable, mags are cold weather resistant too, no problems on semi in 5-10 degree weather last winter.

Upfront cost is a lot though.

WE M4 are alright, going to have to change things a lot more frequent then you would on a GHK M4, but the WE go for about $250-350 used with some mags.. if you are buying new (400-500, just grab the ghk for 600-650).

Mags indoor during the winter sucks hard though. Saw my buddies M4 and 74U barley get through 20 rounds on semi. GG

Good thing about WE you have a lot of companies giving aftermarket support, now Angry Guns is giving some support with their trigger box. Also parts for the WE are widely available cause everyone in North America loves WE.

Airsoft Surgeon Modern MK12 MOD 0 is the only real choice.

KJ Works is probably the worst choice, easy to break and not very pleasing to shoot. In fact, these rifles are so unpopular in Hong Kong that you can get one for about $30 CAD.
