Newbie gun advice.
I'm looking into getting my first airsoft gun. I just went to an airsoft gun shop to get some info.
I'm looking for a mid range AR15 rifle. They recommended the ICS PAR MK3 http://icsbb.com/product/ics-290-par-mk3-c-mtr/ Any thoughts? |
Did you search these forums? This question gets asked a lot so there is a ton of relevant information already discussed.
Of course. Nothing came up on the search. Apparently this gun is new so Im not surprised.
It's the new line of the ICS m4. It is normal no reviews are there yet on this forum. That being said, ICS M4 are usally good value and you may come cross some reviews on other platforms.
What's your budget look like?
Most guns are mid-close range in their stock form. The way you get better performance out of it is by upgrading the internals. Also I would stay away from the split gearbox. Still too new to the market for my liking.
ICS split gearboxes have been in the market for over a decade....
If you want a great gun that performs above average out of the box without having to upgrade much. Try KWA, either a KWA RIS or SR 10. Both guns shoot over 150 ' out of the box and will take a shit kicking before they break down.
Search for the brand first, then narrow it down to the gun (looks, size, upgrades). There are tons of threads on what brands are better than others.
Just watch out.. Airsoft is a religion and people are swayed by selection bias.. but in general if many people say brand A, B or C is good then it typically is better than the others. My personal suggestion is if this is your first gun, pick something that is generic and can use most of the common parts out there (V2 gear box etc). If no one has the gun you are looking for (no reviews etc), then maybe it shouldn't be your first gun. |
Here ya go OP.
