Info on lengthening barrel on cqb aeg
Hi all, I'm thinking about adding 4" to my aeg to make it carbine length, currently I have a king arms m4 with a 10 inch barrel, the cylinder has holes on each side.
I was told I can't use a longer barrel set up on the aeg because of the function of these holes. Can someone tell me what parts to change to achieve a 14" barrel length. thank you. |
you need a cylinder ported for a 363mm barrel (like this)
You're free to do as you like, but if you're looking for more range and accuracy, you won't get it with just an extra 4" of barrel |
Thank you, I realise your point about the accuracy, its more for the feel and look.
I am used to the length and balance of the c7 and a cqb m4 doesn't quite cut it. I'm not yet a fan of indoor play so the shorter set up is not needed and with a longer handguard and barrel the weight will be closer to what I prefer. I could be mistaken but the porting on the cylinder you linked looks simalar to the one i already have. |
Chances are your M4 already has the proper cylinder port. If it's off by a bit it won't be the end of the world, over volume is better than under volume. You don't really have to change anything except the outer and inner barrels.

Manufacturers are silly. Could very well be you already have the correct port. I know G&P's were always shipped with full cylinders with the short barrel guns.

I think the KA have the correct cylinders... all you need to do to check is take your upper off... if it's matched properly your port will be in and around the 3/4 mark up the cylinder. You can go with a 7/8, one with cuts at the end or a full cylinder if you wanted and you won't notice much of a difference unless you use super heavy rounds.

edit: woops

There is an alternative worth mentioning. Some AEGs are actually quieted with the addition of an airsoft suppressor. You could add one onto the end of your barrel to get the desired length, and/or change the look. This will help with stealth outdoors. Another option is to go for the honey badger style look. You get carbine length, but you suppressor is nearly swallowed by a free float style rail system. Your inner barrel can then remain the same length. If it is just look you require, you can always lengthen the outside of the gun, and leave the inside alone as well.

I was thinking of that, a 13 inch rail, an extension on my current barrel, longer inner barrel and my kfh tucked within the rail.
Thanks for the advice and sharing the tech aspects guys. |
KA 10" and 14" M4s come with the same cylinders, you'll have no issues.

Thats good news, thanks.
