tm 1911 magazine not feeding gas?

got a brand new tm 1911 from ASC. trying to load propane via airsoft innovation propane adapter but to my surprise the mag isnt exactly feeding in the gas, instead it is spraying out small amounts of gas for some reason. is this normal for tm mags to do this? because my 1911 came with a brand new tm mag as well

All the TM mags I have/had sprayed a little gas when filling.

so how can i get a full feed of gas? im currently rocking 12 shots when my mag can hold 26

Try inserting your adapter perfectly in line with the fill valve. If the magazine is new it will not leak until it is full. If its still leaking it is possible you inserted your adapter super crooked and busted the o-ring around the neck of the fill valve.

take it apart and check the seals, maybe along the way to your place, the rubber O ring got screwed?
also in my experience, i always manage to get 13 shots off before the tank is empty, albeit it was KJ works but i used a TM mag in it, but then again, i borrowed it from a TM that is all polymer...

so im checking the feed needle on the mag and i dont see a oring or any of that matter. is that bad?

Slono September 3rd, 2014 23:55

Nope, its not bad. The o-ring is recessed below the mouth of the fill valve (on the fill valve itself). You'd have to take the valve out in order to inspect it.

Gas economy of the 1911 mags can vary greatly depending on how rapidly you shoot. Shooting very quickly can cause a lot of cool down and only getting 15 shots is normal.

Spacing your shots out when plinking, you can expect to get a full mag. So it can vary depending on cool down.

Regarding the gas spilling out, is the oring around the fill valve present? They can sometimes wear out, or go missing all together. The oring helps create a seal when filling so gas does not spill out.

And of course, as others have said, make sure that both the propane tank and fill valve are parallel to each other when filling.

If it is the oring I made a thread about it here

the mags do not even have orings on the vill valve

Did you take out the fill valve to inspect it? You can't see the o-ring just by looking at the bottom of the magazine.
