So is HFC152a still bad in GBBPs?
 

Trying to read through old posts. Nothing really recent. Is it still a no-no to put HFC152a in gbbs? It's the only gas I can find in my immediate area without going to every store they'd sell duster

If what I'm reading is correct, 152a seems to have a lower vapor pressure than 134a (what we know as marui-safe duster)

Which would mean you would get less fps out of 152a.

Which is not undesirable... the question after the fps one is how does it effect rubber and plastics. If what I'm getting from your question is right, 152a is what's used in the new duster gas cans... and I believe it's NOT rubber safe. You need special seals to contain it, otherwise it will eat through your seals.

lower FPS is what I was going for, it's the seals that I'm worried about. I don't want to try it and have to get new mags. I'd rather try to find 134a

I don't have any practical evidence or personal experience yet, just anecdotal. Someone I know was using 154a in his guns and some time later none of the mags would pressurize.

I'll also note that some of the duster out there doesn't even list the contents, so it may not even be 154a in those cans without any confirmation.

If 152a is also called Difluoromethane (the new stuff in most duster), it's not rubber safe

Give North Trail Sports a shout. I think they used to carry Marui safe duster.

Use propane with some silicone oil dripped in it.
It lubes the seals when you refill. I've ran propane for years with no issue. In fact, it's all I've ever used

I think you missed the part where he said he wants less power than propane.



I think you can still get bulk hfc134a but you may need some special license or permit or have a business that uses it. I found a link somewhere that pointed to maybe praxair selling it by the gas cylinder. You'd have to divise a way to get liquid 134a from the cylinder into your gun though.
