AK74M red dot placement
 

Hey everyone! i'm planning to get a Red Dot but just wondering where would it be better to put it, should i get a top rail or put it on the handguard rail if any fellow AK user could help me on that one it would be amazing!

If you aim with both eyes open, looking past the site to your target, you should place it farther forward, so on the hand guard rail.

Otherwise... you should learn to shoot with both eyes open :p

buy a UTG side rail...its seen alot of use with Russian FSB troops

I like the forward RD with a rail'd gas tube. The issue with the side rail is that Russians are trained to shoot RD sights while they're offset from their irons. So if you get a to-spec side mount, it will be slightly to the... left (I think left) and is a little odd to get used to.

+1 For the gas tube rail, as well as a small red dot like a doctor sight.
