winter problem
What is the problem to play outside during winter with an AEG? (gear problem, batterie problem...)
Thank You |
although i have never played an outdoor game i have hear that with an upgraded gun there are chances that you break your gearbox if it is very cold. also, it is a misconception that SEMI mode is more forgiving that on full AUTO. there is more stress placed on your gearbox while you are firing in SEMI.
It is important to know if your gearbox cracks because it does and if you continue playing, you will strip your gears and f-up your internals which will result in a whole lot of headaches. as for the battery, i believe it is NiCad batteries that perform better in colder weather. |
A Search would tell you; electrical problems, mechbox and plastics cracking.

i want to know the worst problem you can have with an AEG

You also run in to issues with battery life, the cold weather shortens it unless the battery is adequately insulated.

If you have V3 mechbox, PDI150 or less and don't use 10 second bursts nothing will happen.
People say batteries die faster but I haven't noticed it. I use 8.4v 1700mah and it usually goes for the whole day in the winter. P.S Of course I'm not talking about -35C temp. If you play in those conditions lube in your mechbox will freeze and plastic will most likely crack. |
Lets just say if you cant leave any skin exposed, dont play airsoft outside. Its that simple

thank you

Sorry to open an old thread but my searches turned up nothing. Version 6 Gearboxes plus cold weather (sub zero C). Has anyone had issues with them? Last game I played, it was about -4C and my buddy destroyed his Version 3. His gun was shooting around 400fps and I know V3's are pretty resilient. My M1A1 shoots around 370fps. Does anyone have experience shootong an upgraded V6 in cold weather? Any input would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that an M1A1 is a V5 and V2 has the most problems in the cold, everything from V3 up seems to do OK. We played in -23 and all our guns were fine. If you are upgraded your gun won't do as well/ it'll break if you don't have complete upgrades. Daes used a G36 shooting 370 and it did fine but there isn't to much left that's origonal in his mech box. To the best of my knowledge
UPGRADES + COLD = BROKEN One problem the Prince George Airsoft Club ran into was our hop-up was stiff from the cold and bbs were jamming from over compensating then the ruber actually moving and closing the barrel off to much. Run a wire extension into your sleave and into a pocket to keep batteries warm or tape on a hot pack from marks work wear world so the battery doesn't die. |
if it too COLD then you can break the mech, i know people shoot srictly in semi in the winter months. Also tempeture will affect your AEG. minis will die FAST.. so make sure to bring extra battery's and keep one on your body. Other than that i wouldnt suggest playing in -10 weather with a heavy upgraded gun.

I'd like to get more info from people with upgraded P90's and Thompsons on this whole winter play thing. P.S. I'll try and get some pics up of my buddy's V3 mechbox. Apparently it's in 5 or 6 pieces. From talking to other people, nobody has ever managed to destroy one that thoroughly before. |

m1a1 and uzi are v5 P90 is v6 talk to some the snow dragons, seems like they would be the experts at winter playing by looking at their pictures. EDIT http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...hlight=weather I asked a similar question so here's the answers |
