HobbyKing no longer shipping lipo batteries via AirMail or EMS to Canada

Just got this in our inbox this morning...

TL;DR - Minimum $24.09 USD shipping via Fedex from HobbyKing to Canada. Possible customs handling charges. No more EMS or Air Mail.

Dear valued HobbyKing Customer,

RE: Battery Shipping from International Warehouse

Please notice, we have recently been informed by some of our shipping partners that they will no longer be able to ship orders containing lithium based batteries on behalf of HobbyKing from our International Warehouse. As a result, orders placed between 23 September 2013 and 2 October 2013 may have been affected and returned to the International Warehouse.

The shipping options that this will affect are EMS, Singpost, Registered Mail, Air Parcel and China Post.

If your order has been affected, HobbyKing will be upgrading your chosen freight option at no extra cost to you to ensure that you receive your order in a timely fashion.

As a long term solution, HobbyKing will be implementing new shipping suppliers in the following days. Alternatively, we would recommend that you place battery orders through any of our regional warehouses, all of whom have an excellent range of lithium based batteries.

Please note: This will NOT affect orders placed after 2 October 2013.

We at HobbyKing thank you for your continued support and custom and appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Thankfully,
Anthony Hand
President

How is Fedex for border rape fees?

lurkingknight October 3rd, 2013 10:52

they're fair but they invoice by mail months after.

They'll tell you there are no fees when you sign for it but like 3 months later you get a collection letter in the mail.

Last time they pulled that on me I didn't pay and they sent an amount of like 17$ to a collection agency after sending me 3 or 4 letters.. the agency called about 3 times before giving up.

Stealth October 3rd, 2013 10:58

How does that affect your credit score?....

lurkingknight October 3rd, 2013 11:05

probably not a good idea to keep doing it but I'm sure you could argue with them if you wanted to waste your time. I specifically asked the guy at the counter when I picked up my package if there were duty charges, he said no.

You're also talking about staff who would not let me authorize them to leave a package containing a book at my door because they thought 8000 yen was 8000 DOLLARS. Not one, but 3 people made this mistake, the driver, and the 2 at the counter.

F***, I planned an order next week.

Should not have waited.

ThunderCactus October 3rd, 2013 11:21

lmao 8000 dollars

If you ask them if there are any hidden fees, and they say no, and they invoice you with a mystery bill, you can refuse it.

If you take your car to a mechanic, get the fluids changed, then you ask "is this everything on my receipt?" and they say yes, its a finished deal. They can't phone you up 3 weeks later and be all "hey we forgot to invoice you for wiper fluid, so come on back to the shop and pay for it"

I paid for shipping. I paid customs fees and taxes at the post office. Anything else beyond that is unwarranted.

Wouldn't have mattered.
They're refunding orders dating as far back as Sept 17.

Pesky October 3rd, 2013 11:37

Yeah well i'm getting a little pissed now i made an order on Sept 14, not a big order just 4 of the same batteries and it has NOT been shipped yet, it was sent to the warehouse and i haven't heard anything since,

ThunderCactus October 3rd, 2013 11:41

Took a while for them to finally ship my last order. same deal, 4 batteries, took 2 weeks just to ship. They're probably just super busy.

Pesky October 3rd, 2013 11:44

I'm assuming the same thing, but every other time i order form them the order shipped pretty quick.

but the last order i made form them took almost 2 months to get to me, wasn't very happy, i am starting to think its not even worth ordering form them anymore,

ThunderCactus October 3rd, 2013 11:47

same, but the price cant be beat lol

Pesky October 3rd, 2013 11:54

I KNOW! and the quality of there batteries, i just wish a retailer *cough Stealth cough* would carry more of the batteries! :)
