NVG questions

Now ever since I had the chance to look through some real GPNVG-18s, I really want a pair of nvgs. Now since I know there is no way in hell I could get my hands on GPNVG-18s, let alone afford them, can you guys suggest some good alternatives? I don't expect the super high quality, panoramic view with the l33t tacticool looks, but I don't want to buy garbage either. Thanks for the help.

There are a couple of PVS14's for sale in Canada. Prices from 2800 - 4500 depending on the tube and body housing. That's the best bang for buck for GEN3+ in Canada.

(Compared to the GPNVG's @ $60,000 and no Civilian sales, that's a steal!)

There are several PVS-14s forsale, as well as at least one PVS-15s (expect to pay 8000+). Lots forsale in europe as well, but its expensive, and typically not worth it unless you play a large amount of night games, over 24hr+ milsims.

PVS-14s are very nice, I would go for one of them.

For airsofting I just don't know if I could bring myself to spend that much on NVG. After playing a good number of games in the dark with the other team wearing NVG I'm just not that sold. Defiantly a benefit, but really not a massive one at a place like PRZ. Yet if your playing that 30 something hour game out at Finch field, you better hope you have them if the other team does....now I'm conflicted :/

Night vision is heavily overrated, and expensive. Just think of how much money you save by not using it. :)

Hectic May 23rd, 2013 18:59

Lol at c3sk just due to the fact i think you prolly have had just as many nods as anyone on here lol.
If you dont like yers anymore ill have em ;) (on lay away or finace of course)

Hah, we killed a dood recently and all we heard after hit was, "FUCKIN' THERMALS!"

It was hilarious.

Yeah I agree it's a lot to spend if it was just for airsoft, but I also am gonna go take a carbine course in the states that requires night vision and also do some night time hog hunting with a good friend while I'm down there. But now I'm really intrigued about thermals, especially if it can cause more hilarious whining from other people

if you get the pvs-14 here in canada i wouldnt recommend bringing it over the border to the states and back. Not sure the whole legalities but I think it could get confiscated on the way home as technically they are ITAR(right?) items even if you got it here. Correct me if I am wrong though. *cough* C3SK *cough*

If it's a unit legally in Canada and you have your shit in order, you have nothing to worry about, it's as simple as that.

Ya PVS-14 definitely the way to go fr multi purpose monocular. If you want to skip the ITAR BS. There is a company in toronto called General Starlight Company Inc. They have a unit called the GS-14 and the PBS-14 both have the PVS 14 housing with some extra features. Starts at rought 1800 for gen 2 which is 54lm/mm resolution right up to 5000 for gen 3 with 68lm/mm. I believe milspec resolution is 64lm/mm.

Also there is another canadian company called newcon optics. But they do not having pricing on their website.

My advice is to keep looking, there are Canadian companies with better units and prices.

Can you throw a few names out Gato as to what you were thinking?
