Radios for MILSIM and 24 hour games
Is there a FAQ to explain what radio is required? Can I use regular Walkie-Talkie with maybe a hands free?
Thanks |
there isnt really a faq anywhere. regular walkie talkies are generally good for shorter ranges when inside buildings or denser forests. if ur not the guy talking to command u dont need a higher end radio (i see most ppl using puxings or wouxuns - i use a wouxun). however for the $70 or so price tag of the double pack of motorola frs radios its worth it to look at puxings for the value at not that much higher of a price

No real rules on which radios to use.
All you need is a radio that can receive and transmit signals and one that has about 14 channels. There are a variety of manufactures and price ranges depending on your budget. Some brands out there include; Motorola, Cobra, Puxing, Wouxun and Yaesu. I personally use a Yaesu VX-7R. You might also want to consider a headset of some kind so you don't give away your position. |
On the topic of radio's, Just bought a puxing 888. Was wondering if it would be good to go out of the box. Or does it need programming?
|
It would not come programmed.
However when I got my PX-777 it took about 5 minutes to manually program all FRS/GMRS channels. |
