Is there a difference between closed and open bolt mags for WE?

The feeding lips are different.

yes there is a difference, and one won't work in the other. You can either buy open bolt mags right off the bat, or get closed bolt mags and buy open bolt conversion kits which basically swap out the feed lip and bb follower.

that being said, know anywhere that has open bolt WE mags in stock? airsoftdepot and torontoairsoft are all sold out
