Movie Themed airsoft teams. Anyone thought of one?

I was just pondering and realized there are a whole wack load of Mil-Sim teams in Airsoft. I haven't really seen a non-Mil-Sim theme based team. Are there any crazy softers out there that would have interest in being part of a Sci-Fi / Movie based team?

Frankly, I'd love to be part of or start a US Colonial Marines team based of the Aliens movie.

Weapons could follow M41A pulse rifle, M56 smart guns shotguns, modified pistols. Gear would follow Marines camo, vests and armour. With the correct choice of camo this team could also participate in games with other Mil-sim teams.

Some of the other theme based military team suggestions;

- Colonial Marines from Aliens
- Starship troopers military corp.
- Stargate TV Series (maybe Atlantis)

I am seeing several skirmishes setup to replicate movies but are there Stargate and DOD teams?

Ahhhh I C

Sorry, missed your point. No, I don't think there are any dedicated teams. I searched and couldn't find anything..

Scenarios have been done...not teams.

V8, if you want an Aliens Marine-style team, you'll have to find a bunch of rich kids...'cause the pulse rifle mod kit is NOT cheap.

On a similar note, someone had an idea years ago for a Matrix style team. Everyone would dress in black, with black overcoats and use MP5K's. It was ghey for several reasons, one of which being that entirely in black, they always stood out in the field, and second, they'd keel over and die of heat exhaustion.

So basically, build your kit as a fun side option, but don't expect many would fork out that kind of cash along with you.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't mean for this to sound harsh...just trying to point out a fact.

Thanks Threadstone71. I did take your comments as constructive.

You are correct that M41A rifles or even some of the other guns will be pricey to build. My thought is start the teams simple, with replication of some of the gear and work slowly to the expensive stuff.

A Stargate based team may be easier to start since the guns are more common. The premise of the whole theme based team is to follow slightly different tactics then MilSim and allow softers to have fun if they are fans of a particular movie/show.

You shoulda seen the looks *I* got for suggesting a Star Trek themed team - all the Red-Shirts woulda' been fodder - not to mention sticking out of the bush like a... well.. a bright red shirt!

I think it would be great fun to have a USCM or Stargate Loadout for your Team But I think it would best serve as a Secong or Third Load out option for when you want to switch thing up....

Aside from the cost, there are practical issue as illustrated by the Matrix Theme, But i think you could make it work. (Matrix loadout at a Night Game?)

I was going to add Star Trek to part of my list but wasn't as brave to face the flaming. :smack:

well, I wouldn't say that SD is a Stargate-sim(?) team, but half of our membership are huge SG nerds, and some of our patches were based on SG patches, and many of my teammates do play regularily in OD with black gear, with P90s or MP5s, and Zeon does try to have at least 2 games a year simulate SG episodes.......

But we aren't a Sci-Sim team, I swear ;)

Ringmaster from Wolfpack Ottawa has a Pulse Rifle and a set of combats modelled after the Alien movie. Got the patches and everything. It's pretty slick.

I agree with Treadstone on the cost of the Aliens and the Starship troopers setup. The aliens pulse rifle is pretty expensive, plus you'd have to either make the gear or have it custom made somewhere. The starship troopers one would be even harder, since there is no airsoft version of the morita rifle they used (that I know of atleast). Plus again gear would have to be made by you or for you. Matrix getup might work in an indoor CQB setting though, and wouldn't be too expensive to make. Now, who wants to make an Animal House setup?? TOGA! TOGA!
