Charging handle spring ping noise

Hey guys, don't really need a problem diagnosed but a crafty solution would be nice. Everytime I take a shot I am getting a faint ping noise (ping echo) coming from the spring that returns the charging handle to home position. So far I have tried throwing some grease on the spring in an attempt to reduce the vibrating. Worked a bit but just a little.
I have heard if you stretch out the coil a bit in the middle it will take the vibration down. Just wanted your guys input if you have already dealt with this issue. My gun is a KAM4 but I imagine most m4 aeg's are built similar.

Often this noise actually comes from your main spring. Acoustics in airsoft are a bitch .. .. A lot of the time if you can't solve a given acoustics issue with memory foam, grease or bearings (i.e. bearing spring guides, bearing piston heads, etc), it comes down to the actual receiver or gearbox shell, and those are expensive to replace.

If it is indeed your charging handle spring resonating with the vibrations from your shots, I'm not sure there are many options side from padding the space above or below it with small bits of foam insulation or perhaps replacing the spring altogether with one that doesn't resonate or sing.

I'll also add that if your charging handle is superficial (some M4 bodies instead require you to open the dust cover with your finger and close by themselves) you could always opt to remove the spring altogether and fix the handle in place some other way.

Someone should do a poll to see how many impatient and acoustics-sensitive gun docs remove their bolt release levers from M4s for this exact same reason :)

I had a charging handle spring doing the same thing (non functional) so I replaced said lousy spring with a rubber band. Simple, elegant, and it works. If and when the rubber band deteriorates or gets stretched too far simply replace it. Dollar store ftw.
