no sites use credit card payment ?

ive been to a ton of sites to look at parts/gear/Guns and a good 90% of them
dont do credit card payment just E-transfer/paypal/bankwire.

anyone know why that is .. its highly annoying for someone that doesnt have a creditcard hooked up to a paypal account

i find it easier just to pay with credit card rite on the checkout page

(little 330 am sleepy rant )

Many brick-and-mortar stores take CCs. There are a few retailers that take them as well. I recommend you get AV'ed to get access to them.

You can usually pay with CC via Paypal even if you don't have a Paypal account.

Like was said, you can pay via Paypal with a credit card.

Be aware those assfucks at paypal like to charge you a premium if you pay with a credit card. Its some bullshit like 2-5% of the cost of your purchase or something like that.

I bought my camelbak bladder and used credit card because I wasn't super sure about the seller (he was legit however) and those dickheads charged me a currency rate that was higher than the actual rate (arbitrageur anyone?) and charged another 4% because I used credit card.

So I bought a 28 dollar item. They gave me a shit exchange rate so they made another dollar and charged me another dollar because I paid with visa. Combine that 1 dollar extra they made off me and multiply by the millions of people that use them every year thats a shit load of cash for not doing anything.

I wish paypal would burn.

You need to get your ducks in a row; paypal is actually a really great service. If you can't figure out how to make it work properly that's your fault.

I have my account tied into my chequing account, it pulls money right out, no extra charges. Sometimes currencies fluctuate up and down pretty drastically - remember that a paypal charge can take a few days to clear, so the rate may not be the same as when you made the actual purchase.

Also, CC companies do the same thing, so if you have a problem, it's with the industry, not any one company.

I guess you haven't had money disappear from your account. Or haven't had to exchange money from US to CAN or CAN to US. I had 400 tied into my paypal in US currency waiting for the exchange rates to equalize so I get a fair rate. Paypal held the rates artificially high in favor of CND so I would get shafted by $20 when I converted to CND. It stayed like that for over 2 weeks before I said fuck it and transfered the money because I needed to pay bills.

Look at this pic notice the different rates?? Paypal makes A LOT of money doing this.

100 CAN should get you in real life at least 100 USD at the very least when the dollar is trading basically at parody. Paypal says nope you only get 98 USD. Where does that 2 dollars go? Into their pocket.

Styrak April 21st, 2012 15:31

And you think Paypal does their currency conversion for free? Think again. It's called business, and you need to make money, not give out services for free.

Id be fine if they wernt so damn sneaky about it. If the said on the little invoice they give that they take a 2% fee than fine. But hiding it in a form of arbitrage is pretty dishonest. If your fine with paypal and like their services thats fine by me. Somethings like Ebay you have no choice but to suck it up. I realize that. Wish they werent so sneaky though.

If you go to another country or even a bank, you'll find their conversion rates are probably the same, or at least different that you'll see on xe.com

It's no different.

Grey Ops April 21st, 2012 15:46

Lol and yet nobody has actually answered Dustin's question... :P

The reason that a lot of stores don't have credit card payment integrated is that payment processors like Moneris etc. take a chunk typically significantly larger than Paypal does on a transaction (5% vs 3%), and they have monthly fees as well as set-up fees (none of the other services you mentioned do).

Blackthorne April 21st, 2012 15:51

We no longer use PayPal as a business as they actively support anti-gun movements in several countries.

R1ghty April 21st, 2012 16:41

Paypal is great until you have a problem with them... then you will hate them.

Credit cards normally do instant, and free currency conversion. If I bring my visa to NY, it will be straight up exchange rate. Paypal doesn't offer that, And like stated above, plays with exchange rates always in their favor.

I personally HATE paypal, but due to their market monopoly end up putting money in their pockets time and time again. I think Interact needs to step up the game and bankrupt these fuckers.

XE.com shows the estimated base exchange rate, minus fees and such(much like you said). The problem exists when Paypal offers a 0.95:1 rate when other rates are 1:1 or better

Armyissue April 21st, 2012 16:42

I'll take your Money any way you want to get it to me.
