KA M4 Barrel Nut Help
I'm trying to remove the barrel nut off of a KA M4. The thing won't budge, I'm using an armorers wrench and still nothing. Anyone else have this issue? Is the thing glued on or something.

Add some oil into the threads and pop it into the freezer over night. Or for a few hours if you're in a rush. If that still won't work. Use a heat gun and heat it for a few minutes and try again. Only heat the barrel nut.

Talk a soldering iron, crank it to full and hold it on the barrel nut for a good while and get it nice and hot.. IIRC, there's locktite involved on KA nuts :(
Or a propane torch.. but take out your inner barrel + hop, all plastic pieces in the upper receiver and any small metal springs |
On mine (and one other one I saw), there are shims between the receiver and barrel nut and they got twisted up into the threads of the barrel nut. This may be the case. I ended up dremmeling off the delta ring.
As far as I know, king arms does not put loctite on their nuts. I have only taken apart 4 of them though. Its probably better to try the heating/cooling suggestions first. |
For me it took securing the upper using the barrel in a vice. Then 1 person holding the barrel steady while another person torqued the nut using pliers and two hands. Barrel got a little mangled during the operation

I broke my receiver trying to take the damn thing off. I even used a vice and a pipe wrench but still it didn't budge until my receiver snapped.

Are these things CW threaded or CCW.

All delta rings are "normal"...righty tighty/lefty loosey.

On my KA there was no loctite or anything, it was just very effing tight. Used the proper AR tool with the upper clamped in a vice, and it started to twist the upper before the nut would budge. I hit it with the heat gun on full blast, didn't help. Pounded on the wrench.. nothing. In the end I had to cut the damn thing off. Luckily AirsoftParts carries replacements.
