WE HK416 Stiff Bolt

Hi everyone,

I've recently purchased a WE HK416 and I made a little clean-up and lubing inside. When doing so, a little allen screw fell off, and from that point on, the bolt is pushed upwards, making the charging handle rub against the upper receiver more than it should. I've looked at the explosive diagram and I couldn't find that screw.

Here is an internet image of pretty much the same screw that fell off:

It wasn't doing that before, so I presume this allen screw is for something.

Thank you.

Added a picture I took of it instead.

Hopup set screw? I know the carrier really well, there isn't a set screw for the carrier

//sent on my smartphone, I apologized for any unchecked spellcheck//

That's too short to be the hop up screw. Still I doubt it would cause any problem if the hop up screw was gone.

hammer set screw is the only other set screw I could think of for WE international.

I couldn't for the life of me find where it goes, if it even goes somewhere. I took out the trigger assembly, re lubed and re greased everything, and the bolt cycles very well now. I'll see if ever other problem arises but for now, the problem seems to have faded away. Thanks for your help guys.

well, it does look like the screw on the steel bolt carrier to me though, if you have upgraded it with a RA steel bolt. check if there is any loosen parts inside, also check your buffer stopper, try to find out what makes your bolt stiff.

I basically checked if anything wasn't loose, and it seems that no parts are. I don't have the RA-Tech bolt for now, and the stock one is cycling smoothly (I did add more grease on the bolt and charging handle). It probably comes from something else as I remember having a couple of things lying around when I disassembled it (still doesn't really explain why I found it after separating the upper and lower receiver. If anything does come apart when I start shooting with it, atleast I still have the allen key if it really was part of the gun.

is it from the bottom of the hooked portion of the charging handle? i recall there being a mod were a set screw was installed into the hook.
