G36 vs MTC

guys I was looking at purchasing a new rifle to potentially turn into a dmr and I came across 2 different ones
The ares g36cv
Pros:
-blowback
-good internals
-lightweight
-looks deadly

Cons :
Proprietary parts
More expensive


The echo 1 mtc 2
Pros:
-looks cool
-takes m4 mags
-longer barrel
-more upgradable

Cons:
Heavier

So my question is, is the ares g36cv worth the extra money, or will the MTc 2 do me just fine as a dmr?

You'll have an easier time upgrading and supporting the MTC. It has a fairly up-to-date version of the JG V3 gearbox which is reliable and in its stock form gets (in my experience) fantastic compression. Echo1 has thrown a few aftermarket upgrades into it from Madbull and the like. It is extremely unlikely you will ever have a problem finding plentiful and inexpensive parts for the MTC. I would totally go with the Echo1 here.

The ARES is nice-looking in person but it will be harder to support in the long run. In addition, the blowback feature has a tendency to quickly turn into a "con" rather than a "pro" -- ask the more experienced gun techs on this forum.

Well if you're going to turn it into a DMR, you might want to start with a higher quality base.
And if accuracy and range are your primary concerns, your highest priority should be a 100% TM spec mechbox so you can upgrade it properly.

Definitely wouldn't take the ARES though

For a G36 dmr I would start with a full size one.

Would the MTC 2 count as full size?

Yeah this is true, the only thing that bugs me Isits a tad heavier, cause I'd like to be able to run it as a secondary, while having another primary, or vise versa

Woah there! If you are hauling around a DMR rifle, then it IS your primary. Your secondary is a pistol or at the most small compact SMG like the MP7.

A good base to build a DMR on is an M14 (the TM M14 is wicked accurate out of the box, more so with some minor upgrades) or a stoner platform.

*edit: Herp... just looked at the MTC and threw up a little... eww.

Bottom one is a full size G36 with a 509mm inner barrel and superior barrel-type hopup.

I have an Umarex G36CV and it's actually pretty consistent out of the box. The groupings are very small and the tolerance of the gear box (version 3) is already pretty tight. It comes with an unported cylinder and by my rough calculations it could probably support up to about 400 - 500 mm length of barrel (Just over 22,000 mm^3 of air volume from the cylinder).

I'm planning to put a 400 mm 6.03 barrel into mine with a Guarder cylinder upgrade kit, but I haven't tested it out yet.

Oh, I forgot to mention:

I don't know about the MTC, but the Umarex G36CV has a quick sping change feature that allows you to change springs within a matter of seconds, in case you want to go from DMR to full auto in between games.

Keep your DMR below 400 and you won't have a problem.

The only issue with sticking a longer barrel in a G36c is that the outer barrel and gas tube assembly that supports the inner barrel is longer. The stock on the full size G36 is also about 1" longer.
