Just need a little help with charging lever
 

Yo I field stripped my M15A4 Rifle and when I put it back together, the charging lever didn't work anymore. Something to do with the spring inside or something perhaps??? I've been examining it from every angle. I take the hop up stuff and inner barrell out, and then I see the charging lever (not attatced to anything) and a long spring screwed down. Where is the cocking lever supposed to be attatched? I went to my so called "friend"'s house and asked him to field strip it so I could see what his looked like, and if I could fix mine by looking at his, but he doesn't want anything to get messed up. He suggested cutting it, because the spring is long, and if the hook on the charging lever is supposed to hook onto the end of the long spring, then I don't know how it works. Someone please help me!

P.S. I also realize that it does absolutely nothing for the gun, but it's so stupid having something on your gun that doesn't work properly.
