Modify's pinion after a slight mistake during pinion attachment
Here's what a Modify pinion gear looks like after I slightly misaligned the gear in my pinion removal tool and didn't notice the misalignment until it was too late.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1149620/airs...difypinion.jpg Initially, a tooth-shard snapped off, and then I had to rotate the gear within the tool to get it off the motor shaft, with a few more pieces snapping off in the process. Motor shaft belongs to a G&P M160, which survived just fine (I put another pinion on it..). I also snapped a selector plate today, shortly after this picture was taken, but Krazy Glue took care of that. Good times... :D edit: In the photo, the pinion gear on the right is a stock G&P |
Good luck with that super glued selector plate.

which pinion gear remover did you use? I haven't seen that happen to a pinion gear before.

http://airsoftportal.ph/shops.html?func=detail&id=2208 It works great when you're watching what the heck you're doing, which in this case I wasn't. Thought I'd share the results though :) I was really surprised it snapped into pieces like this, but I guess the forces exerted on the part were pretty severe. |
That pinion gear must have been really hard, so hard that it was brittle. Watch what you're doing when working on your guns and hope for the best. Everyone that works on these guns will break something one time or another.
