Ground Illumination Flares

Does anyone know if Ground Illumination flares are available for civilian purchase in Canada? I live in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and have been checking a few military surplus stores as I come across them... but, no luck so far.

I know some of you have close ties with the people that run these surplus stores, so I'd like to know if any of you know where I might find some.

Thanks!

What do you want to use them for?

I think they sell road flares at crappy tire, but if you're thinking of using them at games they're usually not allowed due to fire restrictions or regs, and can just get the wrong kind of attention if you're on private land and playing with friends.

Ground Illumination flares are, as I understand, contained within a canister. Turning the bottom and striking it against a flat surface ignites a charge which lifts a flare into the air. The flare is then suspended by a parachute for some minutes while it illuminates the vicinity.

I was going to use these for an airsoft game me and my friends are going to up north. The owner of the field has okayed the use of the flares, and his plot of land is large and remote enough to remove the chance of creating any undue alarm. Besides, the neighbors there are into the games and send their husbands and sons to play.

Any ideas?

Try this or any other marine flare suppliers of parachute flares. Just don't use them over water.

Military illumination flares are "defence explosives" as defined by section 150 of the Explosives Regulations, and are not approved explosives for civilian use. They are only approved explosives for transportation by common carrier. Possession of military ordnance of any sort is a good way to get your name on CPIC.

Road flares are a cheap, easy source of ground illumination, but burn red. There are also various consumer fireworks you can buy that have an illumination component as part of their effect. I'd start with flares and see if they give you the type of effect you want. concept_8's caution about fire hazards is quite valid; pay attention to it.

As an aside, how do you plan on shipping an explosive device into Canada?

yanhchan November 27th, 2005 19:48

"you can contact me threw the website" excellent...

8-O, haha, that's the 'lamest' attemt to scam someone I've ever seen.
If this is real, then "Jorge Bush" is a frog.

By the way, you do know this is AirsoftCanada, right?

And what the hell are you trying to say here? That you built a weapon for the prime purpose of killing someone without leaving evidence?

What device does every home in America
have that could be re-designed into a weapon by the average
person and could be used kill a person leaving no trace of
evidence as to how the person died.
Yes a person could really get away with murder. I built such a
device for under $100.00 dollars.
The device is called a n.e.r.f. Gun.
Fires 12,000 WATTS of microwave energy.

mcguyver November 27th, 2005 20:10

microwaves excite water molecules to boil and would cause a mostly-water animal to boils from the inside and explode. pretty easy to NOT notice that. i can see the police say" gee, fred. i don't know what killed him. could be a knife, or maybe that microwave that's the size of a car".

made Man November 27th, 2005 20:32

Erm... that sounds like someone played too much HL/Quake/Blood/some other FPS with a microwave/electricity gun.

ToRN November 27th, 2005 20:38

or he just finished watching batman begins before making that statement.....
