Today on Militaryblog.jp some information about Zeta-Lab's new project has been released. Unfortunately it's all written in Japanese, but thanks to the Google translator we could reconstruct most of the details. So apparently Zeta-Lab is working on an AS Val as well as the original model, the VSS Vintorez.
These are going to be AEGs with Marui compatible internal parts, which is a first for Zeta-Lab. As we already wrote some time ago, Zeta-Lab is now part of ARES, which suggests the assumption that the AEG internals will be made by ARES. The outer parts will be completely made out of steel and from what we have seen with the Mosin Nagant rifles, it is probably going to look very realistic. Of course the prototype pictures look very promising as well.

Stock power was said to be 0.9 Joule, which translates to 311 fps with 0.2 gram BBs. They even mentioned release dates already, which are November 2011 for the AS Val and January 2012 for the VSS Vintorez.

You can find the original source at http://gunsmithbaton.militaryblog.jp/e251014.html and http://koko13121.militaryblog.jp/. To see the Google translation you can click here and here.

In case you are not familiar with these guns or their names, here are pictures of the real versions:

Like any other sought out, rarely made model.

They're going to overprice it by 500%

Not going to bother unless they price it reasonably.

As much as I love this gun, It's going to be $300 too expensive (stateside) and internals made by Ares :(

Oborous August 29th, 2011 14:35

I hate the fact that you're probably right.

Odds are for a VSS I will overpay for it though, and still be happy. If I could get a conversion kit onto a Real Sword I would pee myself, a bit, or probably alot.

L473ncy August 29th, 2011 15:07

I think if a conversion kit was made by RS, Inokatsu, or LCT I'd pee myself.

Alternatively there is a fellow who goes by the name "RenegadeCow" who does really good work and has made a custom VSS "conversion" before. He also has a pretty cool way of making the "short" AK mags by using a shotgun shell and building up a mag around it.

Actually this seems like a pretty simple mod to do. I've already done an HK11E, I'd be interested in building a vintorez kit for someone when I've got more free time.

Argh, yeah, but i'd buy it just for the sake of having one :D

Preorder is up on Airsoft Panda - Asking $475USD (http://www.airsoftpanda.com/product_...oducts_id/2635)

The current report from Zeta is the AS Val will be released for January 2011 with the VSS in spring. I will definitely by buying one of them (Leaning towards the VSS but might cave on the VAL and get a stock for it later)

Ggggaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I didn't need to see this. Damn you Airsoft Gods. >:\

ThunderCactus August 29th, 2011 21:34

Amos, wanna lend me your RS SVD so I can vintorize it?
It'll cost less than buy a zetalab, AND it'll be a RS :D

Amos August 29th, 2011 22:27

Talk to Engel lol

BootYourFace August 29th, 2011 22:48

We'll have to force someone on Ivan to buy one, just because.

ThunderCactus August 30th, 2011 00:16

Infact, you should buy two, and I'll get you a free ThunderCustom hat! :D

YkudzA August 30th, 2011 03:53

1) The photo from a REAL VSS but not airsoft copy.
2) Zeta Labs do the airsoft guns from Russsian "Magnitogorsk" custom VSS. They bought it a few month ago.

a_sock August 30th, 2011 08:37

And here I was all sad because I wouldn't see the vss in bf3...
