This guy has an idea on how AK's should be painted.

Make yourself a new receiver from balsa wood, then leave the rest white.

Styrak April 26th, 2011 16:13

Step 1 is taking apart the gun. THEN you can think about painting parts.

umm thanks guys but i dont want to buy metal body unless under 40 dollars and wood parts too expensive and the balsa idea i dont get

A white AK? wtf? Get a wood kit and replace the plastic receiver with a metal one. Worn AKs looks the best.

The guys are obviously poking fun at you a bit. Don't sweat it...there are some real tools on ASC.

Take a look as some of the step by step guides for taking apart a TM AK47 (your Kraken comes apart exactly the same). It's quite easy to do and there's only one or two small things to take care of when you do it.

Then paint both the inside and outside of your clear lower...that'll hide the monstrosity of a receiver and by painting the inside it won't look like ass when it eventually gets scratched up. If you do lots of light coats of paint it won't look too bad.

So far as the furniture goes (handguard, pistol grip, stock, etc...)...you can either keep what you've got, or replace them with aftermarket parts (that will probably cost as much, if not more, than your Kraken). Personally...I think the Kraken furniture looks like shit and painting them won't help. (take with a grain of salt)...anything that fits a TM AK47 will fit the Kraken.

If you want to "hide" some of the asthetic lackings of the Kraken...give some consideration to a camo paintjob.

Take a look at version 3 mechboxes at the same time...it's worth giving the factory mechbox a once over to switch out metal bushings, reshim, regrease, etc... That's all for durability, not cosmetics.

Consider a better houp rubber and inner barrel too...the stock ones are pretty horrible (relatively speaking).

Best of luck

just paint the whole exterior satin or flat black run it for a bit and decide if u wish to upgrade it or start fresh with a full metal Ak then decide on polymer or wood furniture

Could paint the receiver black then just get camo tape and wrap the other parts with it.

Agreed, Tho Tys has given prolly the best advice as far as cost effective and doin the job right, I'd do what i did, just paint the lowwer black, and seein as you got the nasty white stock and top cover and grips id prolly do the cammo tape and or paint them too, if yer kraken is like mine the body is gonna start cracking in alot of spots soon so i wouldnt waste too much time, start saving for a metal lowwer and some wood or black furniture.

good luck enjoy, id say the kraken is good bang for the buck, full wood n metal ak under 500 if ya look around for the parts at a good price, and my gedarbox didnt blow up yet lol lasted longer then my JG m4
