Lipo???

Hi,

Got a smart charger (Onyx one), work on lipo and NiMH.

There is no plug for the balancer (on the LiPo). Is that normal??? Or should I always plug the balancer as well????

To put it easily: If you're not balance charging LIPO they have a chance to go up when charging.

Get a balancing charger.

I got this guy:

I m assuming it not balancing?

Amos February 20th, 2011 21:05

Nope.

Pick up an Imax B6

They're like 60 bucks and they do everything well :)

you need to add a balancer.

depends on quality of cells. I have a couple of team orion carbon lipos that didn't I didn't balance for 3 years of use cuz my duratrax ICE doesn't balance. got a seperate balancer a couple years ago and turns out they were only out of voltage by 0.03V. thats good. most balancing chargers dont even enter balancing mode unless the cells differential is over 0.05V.
I have turnigys that need to be balanced after every use cuz they are out by .5 or more.
but to be on the safe side, its good to have a balancer...

what i use for balance charging

While we are on the topic of lithium batteries.....a 7.4V 15C Li-Po vs. 9.9V 15C LiFePo...which one will give higher rof?

9.9V

Both packs supply more amperage than your motor needs as well, so the physical size of the battery won't make a difference like it does with NiMH/NiCd batteries.

aight thanks.

Would need an adapter to fit with the pro lipo balancer.

Anyone has any hint?

This is what I have used with my Lipo the past year. No adapter needed and so far nothing exploded. :D

Long_Bong February 28th, 2011 16:54

Would this adaptor work with 7.4 v lipo?
