ARMY G17 - Quality?

hey all,

i'm looking to build up a glock carbine. what is the quality like on the army g17?

I have one of those. I purchased it in 2009. It was my sidearm for quite a few games that year. It's stock and performed fine (It didn't break).

thanks... price is right. a few more possitive reports and i might have to buy one.

Army G17 is a complete clone of TM g17, d suggest you go with a TM, don't cheap out on airsoft, you got what you paid for.

there is a >$200 difference between the two. is there really that much of a difference?

faithless February 15th, 2011 11:46

Are you going to upgrade it?

Personally, I buy clone pistol as a base for upgrade. Major component will be replaced with aftermarket parts. Army, bell, kjw and other acm are mainly base their model on tm, which has a wide range of parts to choose from.

I keep my tm pistol stock, except the race gun. Some seen many games using propane. None of them have any issue.

i would keep it stock and upgrade it as it needs it guess. ie parts break i upgrade.

If you have infinite funds go ahead and get the better model; that being the TM G17.

If you are on a budget, then get the Army R17.

Most of us are aware that the biggest caveat with the Army / China Clone / ACM pistols is the QC isn't as high as it is with TM.

But, look around what others game with.

You can easily attend a skirmish nowadays and not see one TM airsoft gun in play.

Personally had one, and hated it. The slide kept blocking onto the hammer's wheel. Then got myself a KSC Glock 19, found out that their "mechbox" mechanism looks much better to me, instead of hurting the wheel when racking in, it's a flat with a spring, so there's no friction on the return of the slide. From that moment I knew I was going KSC all the way for Glocks.

I've been using my TM G17 for 3 years and the quality is remarkable, never get my hands on a Army G17, but I've heared this and that about it from my friends back to China.

I haven't owned an Army, but quality of one is actually fairly decent out of the box. Mags shoot hotter than TM mags, and not quite as consistently. Can't speak about reliability, but considering my Army MEU, it probably won't last too long without something or another breaking down on you.

I've gotta say +1 to faithless and buying clone pistols for base guns for upgrading. Best way to figure out which clone is the "best" is just to spend hours looking at reviews.

If the army g17 clone is any thing like the hfc g17, don't bother unless you can source the adequate replacement parts and mags.

My Army R17 works with TM G17 mags without issue.
