WE Scar OPEN BOLT!!!!

YouTube - First look : WE "Open Bolt" GBB SCAR-L

let the discussion begin!

first of all: GREAT
second: I know there are quite some owners of the current close bolt design, (I am one of them) and I assume we all want to know if there will be a kit so that we can just drop in the parts needed to make it open bolt....

Their Scar wasn't good to begin with, they should upgrade the internals instead of changing it from close bolt to open bolt. In reality, its the same old one that breaks fast.

okay, if you dont mind the hustle of changing the valve locker and firing pin, both situated inside of the trigger assembly, than you are good to go with the Scar.
And if you can update that scar with a Open Bolt, you got yourself a nice reliable gas blow back rifle again!

So, I dont agree with you on that since I am sure the open bolt conversion will also boost up efficiency. (if its the same system as they use for their G39)

To wich parts to you refer too being not good?
ps: the stock breaking issue is a thing of the past...all new close bolt scars have the reinforced stock.

I was very pleased with the SCAR, one of my favorite WE. I think they should all change their brass tube to open bolt!

I've talked to James regarding the internals of the SCAR. He thinks that all of the issues have long been addressed already. So i'm sure they won't be doing any changes to the internals. :(

I want my M4 open bolt kit first.

again to be honest, there were only 2 internal parts that need to be replaced with stronger material:
the valve locker
and the firin pin

and one part that you have to keep an eye on: the roller pin on the hammer.

other than those 3 parts, the internals are fine!

and all major problems you seen on boards are due to one of those parts + the stock problem wich is no issue anymore

... Changing from their "Closed bolt" to their "open bolt" system is an entire re-vamp of the internals.

They don't just remove the brass tube.

Latest gen SCAR supposedly has no issues with the stock plate breaking, I thought? Valve knocker stuff was apparently still a problem in both the SCAR and M4; I don't think that WE will do a thing about that.

That being said, I don't own a SCAR. I've only shot one less than a handful of times. I loved it, and though I found the SCAR fugly at first glance, the more I stare at it, the better it looks. My major gripe with the SCAR was it's terrible consistency and quick cool down.

Looks to me like the ROF has increased with the open bolt system - seems like the whole bolt carrier is moving a tad faster. Could be that they've done something about the weight, or it could be that the gas system for their open bolt is just that much better? Either way, it's making me rethink the SCAR.

I guess I'm out dated! these we're the problems I see all the time with SCAR's. But I guess if they put the new upgraded parts along with the open bolt design, then It would make scar a legit primary.

AMOS

yes I know the difference with open bolt and close bolt.

LOL
Thx for confirming what i also think is plain normal consequence....

Cause i had a major difference of opinion on the arnieboard:
http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...=172162&st=380

Some guys got pissed off on WE, because they didnt like the fact that WE was gonna redo the trigger assembly (i got this confirmed from WE in an email)
The guys thought they should have left the assembly like they did with the M4 (also strange since i dont know where they base that statement on) and prices on conversion kits would go up....

ssrc30 December 15th, 2010 02:16

I was told that WE was gonna have the open bolt Scars available back in october/November... Guess my info was wrong. I am new to GBB so can someone explain to me the advantages of open bolt vs closed bolt?

Argh, I really should sign up on Arnies, lol.

WE is redoing the trigger assembly? Interesting. Would have expected them to leave it like the M4, like you said. Maybe it has something to do with a number of fire selector issues?

If you own a open bolt WE (G36 or M14) and a close bolt, you can tell from use the open bolt handles better, feels better, is more efficiant.

Its an improvement overall

So are the open bolt kits available yet, or are we left waiting until the new year?
