v3 trigger problem

TM MP5k trigger requires very hard pull to fire in both semi and auto.
The problem seemed to get worse, at first it only required a semi hard pull, but now requires severe squeezing.
Took apart gearbox cleaned electrical connections (pretty dirty) and problem was still there, not improved at all.

Does anyone have experience with v3 mechboxes having trigger contact issues? the trigger nub (the part that moves forward when trigger is pulled, has no problem touching two connections its supposed to fit in between.

I'd try to move the nub separately by hand, there might be some stuff stacking in his rails.

Maybe try cleaning the contacts? Maybe try separating them a little more for some better ease? Hard to say i don't have a V3 gearbox..

are the contacts bent in by any chance? do you have the spring on the trigger set in the right place? Is anything binding? Is the axle clean and clear of any debris? is the cut off lever working properly and not getting stuck part way there for blocking the trigger... make sure the spring is in it.

How do you mean "hard to pull"?

Is it 1. stuck then releases and is easy until the next pull? or 2. hard to pull and doesn't return because the spring can't return the trigger?

I'll take it apart soon and carefully inspect it again. I've taken apart V3 mechboxes many times before and didnt notice ANYTHING missing or out of place. all springs are where they should be. Connections were not bent and were very clean after I cleaned it. will try bending the bars very slightly to make better contact...

Basically it feels like it only makes contact at the very end of the trigger pull. Trigger pulls fine like normal but its like I have to push it further than it should travel to get a contact.

btw right now the gun is not firing at all. fired a shot semi and then nothing worked after. This occurs sometimes in semi-auto but afaik thats normal in aeg's. Still, I suspect cut-off lever is screwing up.

Any chance I could get a picture of the trigger contacts?

fi3re October 18th, 2010 03:22

dont have time atm midterms coming up....but will get them up asap

thanks for willing to help me out

Sounds like the contacts are either dirty and or too close together. Something cause friction or a tight squeeze.. More or less a common sense issue i would think.. Hell maybe even the alignment is off

fi3re October 30th, 2010 21:13

so I finally had the chance to take apart my gun...sorry forgot to take pics of process....didnt have much time
took out contacts and sanded them down to a smooth shiny surface. (they were STILL pretty grimy after I cleaned them last time)

tried it, NOTHING. No shot whatsoever.

So then I investigated EVERYTHING electrical. there was nothing visibly wrong. I decided to bend the contacts inwards so there is MORE friction between the wedge and twin bars. THAT did the trick. I guess there wasnt enough surface area touching to start a connection....(I know makes no sense but that was the case)

I'm a little worried that the problem will arise again in the future.
Does anyone else have a similar problem with a good fix?

Makes sense even from the symptoms in your first post.

If it's a TM MP5K, wouldn't it be a V2 mechbox....?
Anyway, check the contacts on your selector plate. Take it off the mechbox and scrub the film off the conductors.

MP5K's are V3.
Also, it was solved in that last post (no connection in the trigger contacts so he bent them inwards)

yup V3 I am 1000% sure

Selector plate doesnt move when trigger is pulled so that doesnt correspond with me having to pull the trigger super hard to fire a shot.

selector plate was clean btw, nothing like trigger contacts

ThunderCactus October 31st, 2010 02:49

K, my bad
It doesn't matter that it doesn't move, I've seen some on and off trigger issues that were caused by the selector plate before. And I've seen even stranger things cause trigger malfunctions lol
What kind of battery are you running?
