Wouldn't it make more sense to, you know, strip the gun before painting it?

m102404 September 2nd, 2010 13:25

Were you trying to just paint the slide? Why not just take the slide off the gun?

It's a very shiny paint...what'd you use?

Im not really a fan of things done improperly.

You should have removed the slide, stripped the internals out, cleaned the slide with soap to get rid of oils and fingerprints, then airbrushed or aerosol'ed the basecoat, then applied 2-3 coats, allowing time for it to dry between applications. Then applied a flat clearcoat to protect the paint.

But thats just me I guess.

That is exactly how you do it. I was wondering the same thing, why didn't he take the gun apart and clean it all before he painted it.

Ask yourselves the following question out loud.

Is that pistol painted as is because a gang of international thieves stole the instructions and tools to take it apart, or because it's super intelligent pistol from the future that re-assembled itself on the drying rack, or was it painted that way because it was never meant to be dismantled from the word go?

If I can field strip a Crossman C11 to paint it than I'm sure you can field strip this thing. If not, than maybe you should have left it the way it was and not done anything to it.

By the way, my Crossman C11 is not a blowback one either, in case you were wondering.

Im pretty sure ALL pistols can be field stripped, including springers and NBB pistols.

ehh, i don't think i can strip my cheapo Umarex USP springer.... I do like the over-complication/problem solving. Good show, man. Hope it works out like you want it to :P

fi3re September 3rd, 2010 03:04

Perhaps its actually built of two halves? give him the benefit of the doubt maybe he tried...

but yea, if you could take the slide off SOMEHOW (taking apart the entire gun) you definitely should have done so...judging from the pics your gonna have messy paint overspray that'll require touching up...

Shrapnel[Op-For] September 3rd, 2010 04:28

So it's a one piece gun that has some shitty paint on it, not to mention you didn't even post this in the right area. Fail.

every gun that is assembled can be dissembled. other wise if the internals were to ever break, you wouldn't have to get a totally new gun.

What make is it? Is that a TM USP AEP?
