Maruzen CA870 - broken loading nozzle

EDIT:

Situation has changed, first problem has been fixed, I now need a loading nozzle (the part that pushes the BB's from the magazine to the hop-up chamber). If you know where to find one OR have one for sale OR know the PART NUMBER for this part, please let me know!

Thanks!

Hi,
I just received my Maruzen CA870 (spring version) from a fellow ASC member and shot 2 mags with it. Before I could finish the second mag, the gun stopped working.

Now, when I pull the trigger, nothing happens, the piston is not released but the trigger does ''spring back'' in place like when the gun is not cocked. The problem is that the piston is stuck back and cannot go forward.

EDIT: Also, it seems that the nozzle/pump lever cannot go fully forward, and because of that it dosen't lock the pump forward even if the spring is compressed. This means the pump now moves freely, and the nozzle does not advance fully into the chamber (apparently)

I don't have the necessary tool to open the searbox now (it requires some kind of a torx screwdriver with a hole in the middle, I'll buy one tomorrow) but even if I could open it, I'm affraid the spring would slam forward and break something.
I tried triggering the sear from the outside (there is a hole which seems to be there for said purpose) but that dosen't work.

Can anyone tell me
A) What could be broken, where can I find replacements?
B) How do I open it now that it's stuck like this
C) Any other tips or tricks that could help me.

Thanks.

EDIT: I can also take pictures of something specific if that is required.

Pretty much the only thing inside to break is the piston head/nozzle assembly, but they are hard to come by. I haven't seen one for sale online at retailers for a while.

It actually sounds like the pump rails have become disconnected from the piston assembly to me. It's a pretty easy fix once you open the mechbox up. It's also one of the biggest flaws of that gun - plastic pump rails that hook into a plastic piston. I said years ago that if someone could make an aluminum piston/nozzle assembly and aluminum pump rails, these guns would be almost indestructible once you put a metal body on it....

Thing is, I already invested in a metal body, long G&P front set and stock... that's why I don't want that gun to die on me so soon since I invested so much money into it...

By the way, my pump rails are metal (the thing that goes from the pump foregrip to the body, if that's what you're talking about). But I think you're right, when it stopped working, I had a stange feeling when I pumped it, like if the pump handle disconnected, like you said. But I don't see how this could cause the trigger not to release the piston?

I got the tool I needed to open the searbox, but I'm affraid to do it since the spring is compressed (I can imagine the piston slamming forward and breaking the cylinder/nozzle or piston).

Any idea on what I could do to make things easier when opening?

If it's stock, it won't have that much pressure - the stock spring is pretty weak. Open it slowly, from the rear - that way, if the spring decompresses too quick, the only bad thing that will happen is that the spring and spring guide will shoot out the back of the mechbox. The trigger/sear is a bit fiddly, though, so I would maybe open it in a extra-large ziplock bag so nothing else goes shooting out.

As a freebee, here's a couple of sittes I had bookmarked from years ago. I traded my CA870 a few years back, but it may help you in assembly/disassembly:

re: The G&P long set - I had the same one. It's beautiful, but unless they changed the machining, the inner barrel is 6.10 inner diameter....yuk! Contact Dee's Custom Barrels and he can make you a 6.01 barrel.....

Well thanks... I managed to take care of that problem just to have the loading nozzle break on me... From what I understand, I'm pretty much screwed now, am I? The worst thing is that the mag was not even fully loaded with BB's so I can't see why this suddenly broke.

Any ideas on how I could get replacement parts...? or just make some king of ''ghetto modification'' to fix that problem?

Poweredge USA used to carry them; maybe try emailing them? Alternately, if you travel to the States often, these are pretty cheap guns - you could buy one for under $100, strip it for parts, and bring back everything but the body....

I temporarly repaired it using some special glue. It's been holding fine for about 50 rounds but I don't know for how long it will last... EDIT: (I glued the 2 parts of the loading nozzle together)

I also made a new magazine using some random parts so it can feed the BB's even without the loading nozzle, in case the glue dosen't hold up.

In case someone wants to try it out, I just bypassed the nozzle using an old loading rod, a magazine spring, a homemade mag follower and feed lip. when I insert the tube in the magwell, a rubber spacer holds it in place by friction, and the BB's are fed directly in the feed hole. Sometimes it will double/triple feed and the tube only holds 12 rounds but at least that is pretty much bulletproof, althought unpractical. If the glue dosen't hold, I'll try to make an ''upgraded'' version of my homemade ''magazine''.
