Airsoft near vancouver?

Hey guys im actually from england and play over here. I'm visiting canada next year for 3 weeks and still want to play! is there any sites near vancouver? How much is it and what is your playing age?

Thanks :) sorry if i posted it in the wrong section wanted to introduce myself properly but i didnt see somewhere i could post it.

I still have lots of questions ;D

Generally it's 18+ or 16+ with parental supervision across Canada, however each field is slightly different. You'll have to rent guns if you come over, as you won't be able to bring yours with you unless you want them seized at the border!

haha xD i dont have them anyway! I sold all my guns to come to canada
Urm i'll be 17 almost 18 :D. Also is there any military shops in vancouver? As CADPAT is so pricey over here :(

Where are you originally from? If it's SE Asia then be prepared for a shock when you get here.

As for Vancouver there are 2 big clubs, Op-For and BCAC (British Columbia Airsoft Club). They play at Panther Paintball I believe on a rotation (every second week). There are also other venues that are being looked into or they play at occasionally. Other venues include the "BigFoot field" that Fraser Valley Airsoft (FVA) plays at and some other venues.

Playing age is 16+ with parental waiver signed (no presigned waivers, parent must be present to sign), 18+ and you're good to go (sign your own waiver).

Sadly I haven't been out this year at all because of work and other weekend activities (my "home" team is based in Alberta though since I live there for 8 months of the year for school). So this is only from what I know of the airsoft scene in Vancouver but definitely think of joining the local clubs and introducing yourself when you get here (if not here already).

PS: The places for surplus are Daves Army Surplus (DSTactical) in New West and PoCo Surplus (2 locations, one in Port Coquitlam and a new one in Langley). Sorry if I've missed out any other great surplus shops but those are the two that come to mind first.

Hey man, register over at www.bcairsoft.com and throw an intro up there. Lots of info and we'll be more than willing to point you in the right direction. The tactical / military store you will want to hit up is www.dstactical.com. Everywhere else out our way is pretty much a waste of time gear wise.

Op-For forums are found here: http://www.op-for.ca/forum/index.php

+1 to DStactical, unless you can settle for overpriced clone gear. If it's 3 weeks that you're here for, you could probably rent stuff instead?

Didn't see that England part..... Sorry. But what I did say was true, players from SE Asia are in for a major shock when they get here.

Parent or LEGAL guardian (ie. godparents, aunt, uncle, if it's a daycamp or similar and your parents have given them permission to sign on your behalf then they can do it as well etc.). Also.... they don't really "know" if they're not a parent or aunt or uncle or anything but the letter of the law reads legal guardian however pretty much anyone can sign (except maybe an older brother or friend who's 18+ so don't make it obvious).

Anyways, other than that where exactly in England are you from? I'll be in Kent for a year so if you're in the area maybe we could hang out if I'm not too busy.

Danke August 19th, 2010 23:21

Where in Vancouver are you staying? Time for some harsh reality, you may not even be able to get to the fields as things are a bit more spread out than the UK here.

I won't even touch on flying over from England to see a girl and then heading out to play airsoft,,,

lukeseandavies August 20th, 2010 09:27

I have been with this girl for awhile :p I'll be in downtown vancouver or somewhere near yaletown all depends on apartments i can rent. If i cant play its not a big deal and she wants to play to because she says it looks fun haha xD. I live near kent in a place called surrey it takes about an hour to get to surrey i believe but the company i play at their sites have sites in a big area. They have 4 different sites and dude im never to busy to play airsoft :D

Little tip if you play over here and at ambush adventures, The bang bang or surrender rule isnt played much. we just put guns on single and shoot once at the back or chest. Just letting you know if you do play at one of the ambush sites :p

doc_pathfinders August 20th, 2010 09:43

you played at ambush? wow, small world.. that's where i cut my teeth in airsoft!

eversley by any chance? i used to play when airsoft dynamics were a fixture on site..

lukeseandavies August 20th, 2010 10:20

Nope i only play at ambush chobham as thats where they do their young gun events and my mum doesnt want to take me to anyother site D;
So i gotta wait till i can drive :D

All I can say is avoid the area near Main street and Hastings but Chinatown is pretty good. There's an Asian supermarket nearby the stadium (T&T Supermarket) that has some pretty good stuff, and that's also where nearby there's a movie theatre (Tinseltown). Stanley park is also pretty fun too and there's a pitch and putt golf course there.

Other than that, you actually have better luck finding paintball games to be honest. North Van is just a sea bus away (the sea bus is like a giant water taxi) (North Shore Paint Ball is the name of the place). Out east Panther Paintball will be the place to go for airsoft games.

lukeseandavies August 20th, 2010 11:54

Yeah i love the look of stanley park Im sure i wont wonder into the bad areas :p and i will never ever play paintball again!
