An AEG should get a good 150 feet of distance if you are using a good weight and quality bb and have a good hopup setting. A chairsofter is someone who spends all their time collecting guns and fixing them up and spending their time on airsoft forums but never really plays.

<-- Chairsofter

As for the range, if you come from the world of paintball, expect your effective range to be more or less doubled.

Or if your running a BA with a tightbore, 3x-4x

My bolt action using .3g bbs shooting 400fps (on .20s), does 210ft accurately to the very end.
Average stock gun will go 100-150ft and be pretty innacurate at the end of it's range

Well if you are using an aeg with quality BB and the proper hop-up setting, you can get pretty close to 200ft.

For instance, my mp40 (250mm inner barrel - that is fairly short for an aeg) with 0.28g bastard can easily hit a man size target (well it is not dead on accuracy but AEG at the end of their effective range compensate by having automatic fire which increase the odds of scoring an hit) at 150 feet.

If you are using an aeg with a longer inner barrel and a tightbore, you can easily hit target up to 200 feet.

And you don't even need a tight bore...

Crunchmeister August 10th, 2010 09:47

For an average AEG, you can expect an effective range of 100-ish ft, possibly more depending on the gun. The BB may travel 150+, but accuracy will be poor beyond its effective range. A better hopup, a tightbore barrel and good quality heavy BBs may extend your effective range by 25-50%.

bob1212295 August 10th, 2010 23:11

what length of tightbore barrel would be effective for a 340-360fps gun then?

Styrak August 10th, 2010 23:27

Doesn't matter that much.

Get an inner barrel that matches the length of your barrel.

It's not the length that matters, it's the consistency, get a prometheus 6.03
