WE M4 (White Spacer Sliding)

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a WE M4 CQB-R. He loves his gun to death and has a habit of taking everything apart just to put it back together.

The problem is.. when he put it back together, he found that the white spacer holding the guide rod/nozzle keeps rising up. This is most likely due to the strong recoil or perhaps slamming of the internals causing the spacer to move.

In any case..

Before he took it apart, he ran about 2000 bb's through it without any problems, but lately it seems as though the spacer keeps fucking moving after he empties like 10 mags through it.

My question is, how can he prevent this without having to keep taking the damn gun apart just to push back the spacer.

Any useful suggestions? Thanks.

cut it off and be done with it

It holds no specific function? I thought it helps guide the piston or something.

Don't do that.
You will eventually damage the guide rode and break the stainless steel rod and or crush your nozzle.

What you should do is push the white rod away from it's proper resting place, dry off and clean both the metal contact point and the white spacer. Apply superglue to both sides, and then return the white spacer to it's proper resting place, gluing it to the inside of the bolt.

Once the glue is dryed and cured (about 4- 8 hours) put your guide rod back in, and tighten the screw to keep it all in place.

This is effectively what they do at the factory. Some white spacers are more prone to moving than others. Mine mysteriously moved with a month of non-use.

Thank you very much for the useful information.

Nooblord, king of awesome fixes.

Where should the white spacer typically sit? Mine has a similar problem, from what I can tell the spacer is supposed to be fixed at the rear of the bolt?

Tried gluing it quickly one day at TTAC but didn't hold up so will give it a go again but with patience this time around ;)

Yeah, it should be at the rear most of the bolt. One side of it will be flush, the other side will appear to have a 1mm gap.

Of course! He always has awesome working guns at games that never break with his fixes! [/sarcasm]

Sadly, his "AEG's don't require an anti-reversal latch" comment has come true with the new ASCU.

Aww, you mean I can't use it as my sig anymore?

If you want...you can tap a little grub screw into the side of the white spacer to set it on the piston body (black tube). I did that to mine and it hasn't budged since. Little AEG screws work great.

As said, the white block is to center the piston body so that it lines up with the cylidner (brass tube) and it should be as far rearward as possible. It should be used.

If you've got some spares you could try and mix-n-match to find a tighter fit.

ok now I was wondering my spacer has moved but I can't seem to push it back.. it wont budge.. but its continously moving forward.. any thoughts? also what type of super glue would you recommend?

place a small screwdriver/allen key thru the side. then give it a non-forceful tap, from one side then the other(then back again) 'til it sits at the bottom.
this white plastic block will eventually interfere with the hammer if it had moved way up.
hope this helps.

thanks man I appreciate it!
