AKM wood furniture

Looking to fit some real steel wood furniture on my CYMA AKM and was looking at this set : http://cgi.ebay.com/Airsoft-AKM-Butt...item2a08b82c60

Would it be possible (after I rewire my gun to take a stick battery) ?

thanks

The front grips may need some minor dremel work but otherwise oughta work.

The pistol grip will not fit as-is. Far too thin to accomodate the motor cage. AFAIK some people have modded this grip but its a fair amount of work.

The stock will probably not fit but I'm not certain of how the new CYMAs are exactly constructed. The tang may or may not be the same but almost certainly you'll need to hollow out the interior for battery space.

Check out the Red Alliance forums for tips and walk-throughs.

Yeah figured that, although wouldn't it be simpler to rewire the gun to take a stick battery?

Myself and a few others have done it.

Takes a fair bit of work, nothing too hard.
If you can, source a RS gas pipe and mod the gas pipe in, that way the RS upper handguard fits right on the RS gas pipe.
It's much easier to mod the gas pipe on the AS parts then to mod the RS upper handguard to the AS gas pipe.

The stock was by far the hardest part for me, and currently still has fitment issues that I don't bother with too much.

Of course but the RS tang will still not fit the CYMA body. That big chunk of wood slides right in to where the mechbox is. Furthermore without hollowing it out you still need to chisel and dremel out the stock for where its held by the body. As mentioned this can still result in fitment and wobble issues.

Depending on your woodworking skills it might be best to buy an aftermarket AS stock thats already set to go with battery space and the like.

They are pretty much non-existent but the RS look so much better than the AS counterpart. Still, what would be my options for an airsoft wood stock?
