Non-Leather Kit
 

I'm looking for a solid pair of high-cut (8" ish) combat boots. If anybody could provide the information necessary to acquire good quality combat boots made LEATHER FREE (assuming their existence), that would be swell.

In before flaming and leather fetishists, etc.

In all seriousness though, I've never seen nor heard of leather-free boots. Perhaps check European retailers?

Oh...wait, I think the old 50's era jungle boots were free of leather.

Only pair of boots that are leather free that I know of are made by Dakota. And they suck. Non leather boots just don't have the bend that is needed for the proper foot movement, unless it is thin enough to not have the correct support.

could i ask why the 'leather free' stipulation?

also, +1 to 13Fido13's comments, you need rigidity in combat boots, support is something overlooked until you sprain an ankle...

In all seriousness, in regards to my stipulations I'm vegan and avoid animal products.

Hmm would gortex fall under the no leather catagory?

Another idea i use the fall hunting boot from Walmart its pretty much all rubber and 100% waterproof they come with a realtree pattern on em im pretty sure there is no leather or any animal products in em. Hope that helps

Goretex boots usually have some kind of skin-like outer surface; the BATES USMC Goretex are nylon and something called "Wolverine Warrior Leather" (don't think they're made of actual wolverine.... looks like some kind of suede), or similar material (like desert boots).

A lot of what appears to be leather is not.. I'd say that some of the new ultra light weight duty boots available from various makers probably have little to no leather.

but really... if everyone stopped wanting to use or wear leather... what are they going to do with all the cow-skins from the cows we eat?

Ahem. I'd rather not wear heels when playing. And I'd like to not get leather boots either but if we have to... It's not that big of a deal for me. Not like we've never owned leather shoes. Plus might as well use all of the cow.
