Light armor?
 

Okay so I've done some sniffing around... but I'd like to know what you guys like when it comes to armor vests?

I have a chest rig, leg holster, and appropriate belt, so I'm thinking of getting just a very lightweight armor vest to underneath the chest rig, cause I don't wanna get TOO hot

Why? If you're trying to do an impression I could understand...

but outdoors there's no real reason to wear armor underneath your chest rig other than trying to replicate a realworld unit.. It'll just make you overheat alot easier lol

why do you need an armored vest? it doesn't hurt that much :P personally i find just running around in a bdu/vest just fine can barely feel hits to my chest, couple of team mates wear chest rigs, same thing no complaints:P but if you want one go for it, again very light weight, or take a bdu shirt (something heavy material at least) but breathe able, lob off the sleeves and use that

There is no such thing as light armor that is not as hot as heavy armor. Unless you are running a simple plate carriere that is trim fitting.

PACA are light and confy, but they are still as hot as any other armor, since they wrap around your body and don't breath.

I love wearing armour, not as a protective thing, but for the weight and realism, and the fact that I take pride in the fact that I can keep up with the guys wearing just a belt and I got an extra 40 pounds of gear on heating up and weighing down yet still being just as agile and fast as them with all that gear it impresses a few people I like it when their drenched in sweat and I'm still fine with my added load.

That's why most of us are here, for the realism. There are times and places to go light, but if I'll be playing in a Direct Action capacity then I'll dress the part.

Soft armor (PACA), while warm, does make carrying a heavy rig more comfortable. Similarly hard plates (you can use plastic ones that aren't all that heavy) act as a sort of frame when carrying a lot of pouches; so while a lot hotter, I find it MUCH more comfortable using a PACA+plates when hauling a heavy load than carrying the same amount of stuff in something like a lightweight assault vest.

Know you'll be hot, be prepared, hydrate, manage your heat.

As long as you don't try and convince me that you should be able to take two hits with this extra armor I say have at it. Do what you need to do to feel bad ass. Once you feel it, airsoft is just another place to run your bad ass around and look bad ass whilst doing so.

It's not for protection so much as it is badassery, like Con said lol.

I was thinking at the very LEAST I'd want someone more awesomer than a t-shirt/underarmor shirt underneath my rig... Anyone know of any good sites where they have a selection of military-ish colthing stuffs? Like the things swat/soldiers wear under their armor IRL... you know? Stuff to like beef up the chest area of my body would be nice

On second thougt, I might just buy a slightly beefier tac vest. The one I got right now is like just a basic rig hung over your shoulders and strapped around the back.

If you want to beaf up your chest, go to the gym. Hahaha.

Unerarmour compression shirts work really well... under body armor. Those shirts are designed to compress the musles, adding more stability, better blood circulation and they wick sweat really well, making you feel dry and cool.

Adding a simple bullet proof vest, like a PACA, will give you the apearance and feeling to be beafier.

But honestly, that's only good for indoor or urban fighting. When you are in the mud, crawling in the wood, it's better to be light and flexible.

And use a plate carrier if you want armor, full armor like an OTV or PASGT vest is just WAY too hot
