G&G UMG (UMP-45) Hop-up issue

I've got a minor, but annoying problem with my current G&G UMG. Even with the hop-up cranked all the way off, my BB's are flying towards the sky. I've heard that with some of the G&G's, the hop-up is generally wonky right out of the box.

I just need some solutions to fixing this problem, and some general discussion about what causes it. Is it a normal problem with most of the G&G's?

Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Take out your inner barrel. Make sure it's turn off. When you look through the inner barrel, do you see any dirt inside? Do you see the Hopup's nub still pushing the bucking?

IMO, it could be either :

A) Dirt in your barrel that throw off completely your backspin

B) Nub is somehow misplaced and unaffected by the dials of the hopup.

It's most likely opinion B. I'll just have to take it apart and see. I was moreso wondering if anyone else had this problem with their UMG.

Also, is there any way to put on a different flash hider for it? Or even a suppressor?

I have the same issues and it does seem to be most likely option B. It only gives slightly too much hop wich is a bit annoying but still quite playable, so I haven't taken it apart yet. As for the supressor, the only one that is known to fit the G&G version is this one: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...or_for_UMG.htm

I'll just have to open 'er up and see then. Thanks for your help, lads. Appreciate it.

haha had the same issue with my G&G UMG... had a systema hopup ruber lying around in my parts box, and swaped the G&G one for the systema one...

Overhop was reduced.. but still needed .25 to shoot straight...

but IMO, they did that, so you use heavier ammo, to compensate the REALLY short barrel of the UMP....therefore getting better groupings...

Guess i can look forward to doing this myself eventually :)

Ah, I knew I wasn't alone in having this problem! I'll swap out the rubber then.

It's a beauty of a gun, and the range is fantastic. I just can't let my BB's heat-seek up toward the sun. :P Thanks, Gunnery!

Sorry to revive an old thread but I have just had the same issue with my gun.
In the end I removed the nub from the hop and it worked perfectly well all weekend!
Obviously I am now looking for a proper fix for this issue, can anyone recommend a decent hop and nub that does the job well from zero to full hop!?
I may also fit the silencer and run a longer barrel to the end of it for a longer woodland range.

Any help welcome

Cheers

the range won't increase with a longer barrel, only the accuracy of the gun. My ump gets the same range as any of my other guns using .28's (it has the overhop as well) The suppressor makes it damn quiet, and it would be a waste to throw a longer barrel in there.
