Picking my new gun
 

Hey guys I am new to the airsoft world, I am trying to decide on one of two guns. I have it narrowed down to the KWA sr10, or the G&G Gr300L. I like both of these guns, but unfortunately there isnt a lot of information on the G&G online. I want to be able to upgrade them to shoot a decent distance also. I play in a more open wooded area. What do you guys think?

From my experience with G&G, which is limited to their half clear models, they are dead accurate/have massive range while stock. KWA are also a decent brand.

The user is from the USA so he does is not stuck with clear G&G models.

Both are armalite variants so both use version 2 mechboxes and should accept the majority of after market internals when you are ready to upgrade. As Angelus stated G&G is modest quality and KWA is decent. Both should function sufficient out of the box, if you wish to enhance your range then the cheapest and simplest modification you can do with out to much disassembly is replace the hop up rubber in either AEG.

I would personally take the KWA over the G&G.

When you described the kwa and the g&g it sounded like you didn't think highly of either of their quality. Should I be considering other brands? I like full metal so.

My opinions are skewed because I have personal preference for other brands like G&P and KingArms. However even both those companies are not with out their flaws. I guess what it boils doing to is what you like, your expectations and what you are willing to compensate for.

For example I love KingArms external quality but hate their internals so if I were to purchase a KA brand gun I would most likely swap out internals for a brand that I trusted, a brand like Prometheus for example.

Dont get me wrong, G&G is a decent brand as well as KWA. However KWA is quite a few steps up the quality ladder from G&G. Better internal and external quality all around when contrasted to a G&G.

I also would have to go with KWA as apposed to G&G Way better Internals and Externals.

But tlike T7 said it is really your preference.

Since prices are a lot more favourable, what kind of budget are you looking at?

You could go with a TM and upgrade it a bit (or even leaving it stock) and still be competitive, maybe a spring to bring it up to 360-380 FPS (I believe Modify S100 or S110) and running .28's (which will bring it down to like 310-320 FPS). You just have to be a bit smarter and lead your shots.

Either that or there are various companies available to choose from including CA, ARES/STAR, VFC, etc. and with those you can just leave them stock and expect perfect out of the box performance and still be competitive against other players.

Why go TM when you can go with a upgraded gun out of the box.

Since you live in the states go KWA. KWA has an excellent network in the states for dealing with damage and offer I believe a 30 or 60 day warranty in the states. You also have access to the new 2010 gearbox that we don't have up here.

Maximize your spending amount, DO NOT go cheap on your first AEG.. Buy the best you can with the money at hand.

I have money to do whatever I want, would I be more beneficial to buy a gun with good internals then upgrade outside to be the way I want it? Or should I stick with the KWA?

There are some brands that have great internals and externals. It would probably be beneficial for you to buy a gun with both, as it would be cheaper than buying and upgrading.

IMO, good brands for this:

G&P
CA (proline)
Systema (If you can afford it :P)

In the US, I'd go with G&P, CA, or VFC, and maybe one or two other brands depending on what model you want.

Maybe ICS, their new MP5s with the three round burst look really promissing.

Ok the brands you are listing now are the brands that I have been told to stear clear of? I was told this by most retailer that I called too.

Enjoy King Arms. Their stuff seems pretty solid, investing in a SiG556 one day.

On topic, you said SR10. Did a quick search to find something similar at the very best, and King Arms has a nice 12 inch LaRue M4.

Does your retailer carry the brands you mentioned and not the ones we have? If so, well, you've basically got your answer. As always though, find yourself a good 5 or 6 models and makes you'd consider investing in. From there, do some fine research to really narrow it down. It saves you the heartbreak when you get something in the mail that may or may not be up to your standards. Very seldom do I ever trust a retailer's opinion on a brand (albeit most of ours are reputable) they will still promote what they are selling above all else because business is business. If you've got some friends that are fielding some weapons you like, ask them about it. Personally I find that's the best way, since they will tell you the problems they've had (if any).
