Gun cam mod....

So I got home from the job site early to day so I wipped this up.

Was a helmet cam I used to use back in my racing days and thought I could make use of it in the airsoft world...

its currently zip tied through the rail/hand guard holes and is sturdy but if anyone has a broken carry handle or any broken rail attachment (where I can still use rail part) let me know as it would be better to take on or off as needed....

still need to test it with video but worked well on my helmet so should be ok running around on the gun....

you probably wont like he video

we have been playing with a camera, and are trying to mount it. So far the side of the head seems the best.

Top of the head is an odd angle.
sholder sucks

And When playing cqb or in heavy brush most people seldom walk with the barrel pointing straight out. You keep the gun angled for easier movement. And we got 90% ground fotoage haha.

But it does highly depend on your game play. :)

Post videos when you get some!

lol +1, that's usually what happens with gun cams.

The advantage tough is that the other 10% should be killing footages ;).

Yea I figured I would get a lot of unusable footage but I would just edit it down on my spare time lol.

I figured shit I have this camera just sitting here as I don't race anymore and if I do hit a track day I have another that is way better for fast movement and mounts right to the SV.

I will post video for sure once I get some, our local games are Mondays but the contracts I have now have not allowed me to get out and play...I hope to finish most of the work at this contract this week so that I can make it out the next few Mondays

What would be really nice is a camera similar to what Will Smith wears in I Am Legend. It clips onto glasses and records the video pretty much in your field of vision. I find that too frequently, the videos taken on cams mounted to the side of the head end up being obstructed for action scenes since the player would take cover and lean out to take their shots. This ends up with the camera looking at a wall since nobody is more concerned with what the camera sees instead of being concealed.

Ideally, I guess someone serious about it would have. Cams mounted to both sides of their helmet as well as on their guns. This way, hey have footage of all of the action from various points of view.

Just a thought:)

The Samsung SC-X250L lets you do this ...well maybe not glasses but it would mount to goggles for sure. Kinda cool cause the camera could be saftly tucked away in your gear and it has a plug in adapter that you canmount on almost anything

the lens is your weak point

V-holder offers a pretty wicked little cam for this. even has an hd version an dpretty sure they offer replacable lexan lenses

Weak Point + Acrylic Plastic = Safe camera Lens

It shouldn't be too hard to make a camera yourself... would it? Get something like a smartphone/pda with a mini-usb port, rip open a hd(ish) webcam for the cmos camera, voila, tiny camera? I'm guessing drivers might be a problem though.

PrIeSt April 20th, 2010 18:50

drivers, simple buffers, even he software to do it.

a v-holder has been the best/straightest forward choice I have been able to come up with.

I dont like the idea of running a wire down the side of my neck to a camera in a pocket.

The all in one option is best I can find :)

But it costs....

thats why I like the bullet cam that I am using now and doesn't look that bad on the gun IMO
