AR15 Collapsible stock wobble?
Hey
Being new to airsoft, i was wondering if its normal for all ar15 type collapsible stocks to have wobble on them? I know its pretty standard for most LE stocks to wobble, but what about other stocks like the MOE, Crane, Vltor mod stock, etc. Also, are buffer tubes for m4 AEGs all under one standard size, or do different companies have completely different measurements? |
There are two sizes of buffer tube, milspec and commercial. The milspec tube has a slightly smaller outer diameter. If you have a milspec tube and a commercial sized stock then you would get wobble.
Typically there's not any markings but if you have a set of calipers just measure the diameter of the tube. If it's about 1.15" diameter then it's milspec, about 1.17" is commercial. Hope this helps solve it for you. EDIT: Here's a picture to illustrate what I mean: http://www.laruetactical.com/pics/Bu...tock_Specs.jpg |

Oops! Thanks for catching that, forgot the initial 1 after the period in both :P

Wow. WTFs idea was it to have two different specs O.o
anyways, thnx for the replies, but i noticed on the picture that mil spec buffer tubes only appear to have 4 different position, and the commercial has 6. is this consistent with all milspec and commercial spec tubes? |
Nope. both might have more or less than others. Most airsoft buffer tubes are milspec and only a few are commercial. The problem with airsoft stock and buffer tube is everyone plays by their own rules so you might get wobbles when mixing brands. stick to one brand if you want good fitment.

Can you simply distinguish the difference between the two to know what you have on your AEG by looking to see if there is an angle at the end of your tube? As the commercial does in that diagram.

I don't think wobble is a real issue, just use electrical tape and you're good as gold. :)
