C8A2 or A3 BUILD! (pics)

3 Attachment(s)
What i have here is a WE m4a1 that has gone through the proper steps to make it look close to the RS. Now at the time that i was getting the engravings done, i did not know that the c8a2 was all black and the c8a3 was the one with the green furnitures. Bang head!

For the engravings, they are laser. Out of laziness, i didn't not fill the engravings on the fire select and have them laser over. It was too much work and i was afraid of messing up the receiver finish.

-Real steal OD handguards imported from the states. Was going to have actuel diemaco hand guards but somehow canada post lost them. :rocket:
-WA OD pistol grip (fits just nice, did have to drill one little hole into the top of it to retain the fire selector pin.
-G&P butt stock OD
-Guarder Butt pad
-diemaco triad.
-Ambidextrous fire selector
-Pro-Arms L119A1 Aluminum Outer Barrel for WA M4A1 Series
-Sling loop, rectangle is in the mail.

Please let me know what you think, what can be added besides the Optics that i haven't thought of. Sorry for the shit pictures, good camera but not good a photographer...

Really nice build, pretty accurate to the RS!

That's looking pretty sharp. Where did you have the laser engraving done?

optional ambi charging handle latch (which is not on all C7s or C8s) and that is about it IMO.

what would one look like. I dont get to see them at all. Im in the airforce

The Canadian forces do not use the C8A2.

The serial number should be either AB for C8 or C8A1 or AE for a C8A3. AA is for C7 only.

Magazine Ambi-Catch... about it. Very nice rifle.

Might as well ditch the stock pad if you're not gonna use the LE one, it looks funny. Alot of soldiers do anyways. As for optics you're definitely safe with a 552.

I've seen alot of pics were soldiers ditch both the ambi-catch and/or the charging handle for A1 parts. Why? well my personel experience with the ambi-catch, humping it through thick swamp, trying keep my rifle close to chest, emerge from said swamp, finally, go to aim my rifle, no magazine! I must've pressed the latch by accident and didn't hear the mag drop. Obviously, that could be the end of me in a real life scenario. I've also heard stories of the charging handle getting caught in all sorts of places (mainly gear). If you are looking to do a Canadian build, you can do without these parts.

Fantastic rifle though, thumbs up!

What do you mean by LE and ditching the butpad. Is it the stock. Do i not have the right one....

thank you for you comments

You have the right stock, but the wrong pad. The LE stock is a beefier stock that replaced the classic CAR stock on most newer M4s- Colt Canada stuck with the older stock. The LE stock is larger and has a slanted buttpad, so it's longer than the buttpad for the classic CAR stock.

From my personal experience, I would only install ambi mag catch and cocking lever for a left-handed shooter. What Acid_Snake described happened to me often with the ambi mag catch on my C7 AEG. I would always be losing my mag because the release would get pushed by my equipment. Also, the charging handle extension to make it ambidextrous tends to get caught up in your gear. With a left-handed operator, those 2 parts face away from your gear / body when holding the gun. For a right-handed shooter, they're just an annoyance.

But yeah, awesome work. Very well done on that build.

also, running a "normal" Ambi charging handle can be pretty useless. The foward assist is right under it, you don't have a whole lot of real estate to grab that thing with your right hand/fingers.

Running an extended latch will solve these problems, I'm currently looking into acquiring a Badger Ordnance ambi charging handle with extended latch and mod it to fit my WE.

check it out here, the video talks about the problem (that's where I got the info from)
