How does Kraken's cheaper brother compare...

How does the Aftermath Kraken Kurz compare to the Kraken.
I know that the rated FPS is higher on the Kraken, but that is almost irrelevant.
What I really want to know that if their is any significant quality issues with the Kurz over that kraken

Thanks,
Squeenix

I recommend that you get AVED and shop the classifieds Kraken and Kraken Kurz are low quality guns that you will have problems with...

Just my 2 cents..

Ya Bro, what are you at now 150$? if thats how much you have saved, save up more and more and get AVed, at 300$ that will give you above entry level guns, because at the moment many people are growing away from the sport so they are selling theyre stuff to pay bills, so the bottom line.

SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE

A.V-ed A.V-ed

IS BESS BRO!

You're kind of throwing your money down the toilet IMO.

Although I used to say if you're on a budget then Kraken is the way to go that's not my view anymore. If you have lots of mechanical knowledge yeah maybe but it's still a money pit as you have to buy new parts as it breaks and such and gun doc work is expensive if you keep going to them to repair/upgrade things.

As one person put it "The Kraken is a 3D instruction manual that you can upgrade slowly while playing with". If you're not willing to dump money into it for upgraded parts then don't bother (cause it ends up being more expensive than getting something like a G&G right off the bat). It's probably best if you do the work yourself since it's free rather than $15-20/hr for a gundoc to do it.

When you say upgraded parts....

Do you mean replacing broken parts, the parts are crappy already, or both.

Both. Crappy parts lead to parts breaking. You can be pre-emptive and replace them before they break, or replace them after they break. Either way you end up replacing them.

Ok, this is making me reconsider, can you give me an example of how much an entry level G&G would cost in the classified.

Marosu October 11th, 2009 21:44

Back to the question, I asked at airgunsource and they told me that the Kurz features a nylon plastic gearbox. This is the main differance. And like every one says, getting AV'ed and browsing the classifieds is the best way to get good, reliable gun.

kalnaren October 11th, 2009 21:48

Plastic gearbox is FAIL. Compeltely (and for those of you STAR fans who are about to reply angerly, polycarb is not plastic). If it has a plastic gearbox, it isn't even worth owning.

As for a G&G, you're looking at about $400-$450 for a halfbreed, or $600-ish for a full metal one. A JG gun will probably run you around $350, and they're decent enough quality.

Ive been seeing full metal full black G&G and similar quality AEGs go down in price, and should be more around the $500 mark. Not only that but there have been a shit tonne of amazing deals out there now. Example a VFC SCAR for $675, which is a fucking STEAL since maybe last year to two years ago the same gun could fetch about $800-$900 easy.

pusangani October 11th, 2009 22:52

Plastic gearboxes are garbage why would you even consider something with one, get av'd and buy from the classifieds and stop asking what the prices are

Amos did a side-by-side for warfighter tactical as was disgusted by the rec. I made the mistake of buying a rec M4, the only piece that is still in use it the stock on the pistol grip. The rest has been replaced.
