STRIKE Commando Recon Vest and Back Plate Carrier

Does anyone here have the BHI STRIKE Commando Recon Vest with the back plate carrier?

I just got the STRIKE Back plate carrier for it...
Something is either not in place, or not matching up.

Did any of you guys modify it so the back plate carrier clips into place from the side (top and button) of the CRV with the lower section of the back plate carrier?

I'm in class now :-p but when I go back I'll take more pics of the problems I have so you guys will know what I mean.

Raven and I have the Strike commando rig with back plate.... Raven gave up and move to newer toys, in the end so did I. Nothing fitted correctly from the factory. Not even the same type of buckles.. The back plate only attaches to the top shoulder straps and the waist. There is no way to use the middle buckles with the plate carrier ( where the shoulder strap usualy attach) I had mine modified and in the end edeed up not using it althogetter and only using the hydration sleave as a back plate using some of the mollee shoulder hockups. It also rides way to high for my taste and is highly unconfortable and the Coyote was not even the same shade..In the end it's a heart felt 1/10 from BHI crap... made in Vietnam...by the lowest bidder....But then again it's nothing more than I expect for US made gear. If only I could find something else to carry the damn thompson mags I would be happy.....

Mine went together without a hitch, and it's one of my favourite pieces of gear. There is an adapter that has to be used to put the two together. Mine came with it, but I'm told that 's not normal. Do you have these pieces:

The pix are waiting for you to download on MSN.

EDIT: Ya you need what Rob posted to attach them (properly).

I have that... but still feels like I'm wearing plywood around my neck

Hey guys, thanks for the quick response.
Yeah I got those two adapters.

Here's a pic from Freedom Fighter, I'm too lazy to take my pics, it's the same thing however. (Thanks FF)

Now, I attach those two adapters where they are supposed to be, but you see the buckle that is circled in red?
Aren't you supposed to do something with that? Or not? When I wear it, I feel weird because the side of the CRV is flapping out.

Now, I found these pics from militaryphotos.net a while ago, and it showed this.

He somehow custom added those two buckles on the side.

Yeah, it looks like custom work. I've never hada problem with it moving around, and I don't use those extra attachment points for anything. Remember those are for use with the regular straps, without the rear plate carrier. Perhaps my Enhanced Tactical Beer Storage Unit keeps it tighter?

Question - Did you order the Husky?

Also, and I don't know if it matters in your case, but I only use a rear plate. I find any plate carrier uncomfortable with a front plate..digs in to my beer muscle too much and restricts my ability to reach across the body.

I think he got the regular version. I did receive my Husky about a week ago and it's nice, the extra padding makes a small, but comfortable difference.

Beer muscle

Xeph and me have no beer muscle to speak of so I'm confident when he inserts a plate into the front of that harness the sag problem will be non-existant.

I now have a solution for this, you can make a MOLLE T adapter that you slide in one of the channels on your back plate carrier. That adapter has a D-ring at the end so you can use it to attach 1inch webbing to with a buckle at the end. The problem is to find matching buckles.

Contact me, we might be able to work something out (I could do the work for you).

If you want more info contact me and I will explain it in more details. I might just post the solution on the gear forum.

BTW, it is definitly custom.

Cheers

It seems like skinny people like me have problems like this.
If you were more... hmm.... put it in good words LOL, have a bigger stomach, u won't have to worry about it.

Or wear body armor under it.

firemachine69 November 3rd, 2005 20:44

If hard plates are a problem for you, consider getting custom soft inserts.

Actually, I tried something like that using 1/2" closed cell foam but it wasn't sturdy enough. Do you have a reccomendation?

Freedom Fighter November 5th, 2005 09:50

Just start eating like white people and you'll blow up and fit that harness in no time. Have to admit though, damn this thing is even large on me, I need my gut back.
