AN/PEQ LAM Airstrike simulator system

I made these for K2, they were to be used to simulate tactical airstrikes. Specific targets that had strategic signifigance had the receiver/demo sims placed inside or attached directly to either the structure or "other" targets which could be anything from vehicles to Air defence radar installations. Once certain objectives had been acomplished such as suppresion of the oppostions air defence, which ever team controlled the expediant airstrips woud be issued ICS AN/PEQ LAM battery packs that attached directly to the weapons RIS system. The pack housed electronics that allowed the player using the weapon to "Illuminate" the target with the AN/PEQ once he got a decent beam on the Target, a receiver would detonate the blast simulator which would simulate a direct hit with laser guided munitions.

The powder dipersal is fairly small, I didn't place much into the device as I didnt want to have it get all over the area. The blast simulator has the capacity to hold as much as ten pounds of powder if necessary.

Very nice.

Just a thought, could you set a line of these off to simulate a strafing/ bombing run?

May I be the first to say

OMFGWAFFLES I want one... care to sell a couple?

since it is electronic you can set off a almost unlimited amount of dets with one pulse, I had even designed a system that simulated secondary sympathetic explosions, (triggered purely off of concussion of the initial blast) the type encountered when munituions strike impact/explosion sensitive targets such as Fuel stocks or Ordinance dumps. So even though the AN/PEQ LAM has range of 200ft at night, the player using the ANPEQ to illuminate the target risks getting caught inside of the blast radius of the secondary sympathetic detonations, so they would have to scout out the Target and assess if the potential for any secondary explosions is present and take precautionary measures accordingly to ensure that they aren't going to be caught in the blast.

very kewl

That was going to be my first question, but for some reason I knew you already thought of it. :)

Very nice, Very Very nice/practical/playable design.

wow.

I really love it!

Is the receiver able to get triggered by any lasers or it respond only to a sertain pulse frequency?

flack July 27th, 2005 15:35

could you put the diagram of the receiver? :innocent: this is really nice

It only accepts coded pulses, the reciever module will only trip upon the reception of the right coded pulse, so aiming a laser pointer has no effect, although the pack itself uses a laser aiming device as a point of Aim reference.

There is a possibility that I may actually build some of these to market, so I wont be giving away any "diagrams".

That's incredible...

Jesus fuck, I was complaining of a model rocket motor?

ROCK ON!

That could work great as an antiarmor simulation for the people who use vehicles. Mount the pyro on the top of the vehicle and put the laser into an AT4 or LAW66 body.

Have you thought about making the designator a stand alone unit? A little more realisitc to have to get out your designator to lase the target. Just a thought.
