Magnum Boots
Magnum was kind enough to give me an awesome press kit which included hundreds of high res images of there boots and three pdf files showing the line up and some of the technology used. I uploaded them for you guys and if you want a better image of a specific boot let me know.
Catalogue http://www.airsoftcanada.com/bean/ma...og%20Final.pdf ION Mask waterproof treatment http://www.airsoftcanada.com/bean/ma...20ion-mask.pdf And there new gloves that are pathogen resistant. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/bean/ma...t%20gloves.pdf |
i have been using magnum boots for about a year now as both my workboots and my airsoft boots. they are by far the best boots ive ever owned.
|
not me.
They are the worst I've had and they always end up full of holes where the foot bends, even with good care, and I've had 3 pairs. |
I'd be curious to try their new model.
My first pair was the worst boot I ever had. Even worst that the 1970 erea leather military boots I had. |
I like mine... Never any problems.
|
The newer models look a lot better then the older ones. I have an old pair of stealth's that I still use today on the battle fitness test since there broken in perfectly. The shock absorption in them is terrible but they were comfy. There new highly breathable boot looks fantastic.
|
i use Stratigic Ops Group, i got the Ultimate 9000 boot its also a very nice boot. they are out of Kitchener Ont.
Type that in google. and tell me what you guys think cheers Mike |
5.11 ftw
|
I like them a lot.
decent price, breathable material. but I’ll stick with my Oakley boots :D thanks for sharing. |
Hate magnum, love Oakley, no more to say on this
|
Oorah! Oakley FTW
|
I've had my Magnums for over a year now as a work boot and hiking/GP footwear, and in that time I've put them through anything and everything I can think of in terms of regular use and abuse (I get a new pair issued each year :P) and I have to say that the Stealths kind of suck. They decided to put fabric (not leather) in some of the most hard-wearing spots (no strong heel, poor tongue) and more importantly thought it would be a good idea to have a fabric to fabric stitch joint at the heel where the foot bends (instant split within 3 months) and on the tongue (6 month split). The good news is that they are comfy as f*ck, didn't take long to break in, and leather and rubber are decent quality....they just need to rethink their designs.
|
I love my Danner Pronghorns, and will buy another pair when mine die off (bought two years ago), worn through all kinds of crap (sand, mud, water, swamp juice, Ottawa winters, etc,) and abuse daily except in hot weather, still the comfiest boots I've ever owned.

SWATS, can't go wrong with them.
|
danners ftw
|
I have been a long time user of Danner's and they are great, recently bought a pair of Original Swat boots for work and so far they are very comfy and I beleve compariable to my danners.
|
Was about to order a Magnum boots but decided on this:
Blackhawk Desert Ops (website Crappy Iphone pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../blackhawk.jpg |
Goddamn those are nice. I've been looking at these ones for a bit, you'll have to tell me how they are. Also, are these the CB ones or the tan (for colour reference).
|
mags
mags are by far the best for the price, if you like to throw out money to get some looks mabey not for you, but comparable to anything out there in comfort weight and durrability.
save the money, hit up beaver surplus and pick up some magnums |

I am guessing that you owned blackhawks before since you categorically stated that I am throwing out my money with the purchase. Care to share your insight/ experience with the blackhawk. |
Very soon I will have boots from a lot of the major manufacturers and will be doing reviews on them.
|
Anyone have any experience with these?

I rock a set of Belville Deserts in non gortex and love them. I just replaced the insoles with super feet and they were good to go. I have used bates boots before and found them to be hot but comfortable. I am excited to try the new bates C3 boots which are touted as being super breathable.
|
Thanks for the info bean!
|
i find myself caught in a world of wonder. yes i am a noob. that being said, and without even stepping into the field i made my first investment into the voracious world of airsoft with the purchase of Magnum Stealth Force 8.0 boots. i don't even own a gun yet. i will review as i break them in.
i am exited to be here.:D |

Sporting "Original S.W.A.T." for work and I used to be a Magnum Man (Stealths, Storms, and Typhoons), and dollars to donuts the OSwats have done just as good a job as the Storms and Stealths for 2/3 the cost. Quote:

I had the 390 the basic US Army issue. They are roomy and built to last. They aren't a running shoe build but there great. I have had the pleasure of wearing Blackhawks for the last month or so. I must say I am really impressed.
|
I used to wear my work boots, then rolled my ankle due to the lack of support in that area. Went and bought a pair of Magnum Spider Elite 8.0 boots in tan and they are the best part of my load-out. Getting a pair of black ones for fathers day (I hope). Lighter than most sneakers and super comfortable. Best airsoft investment yet.

Got some Ridge Airtac boots, they are great, but i hate black. I've got a pair of cheap tan boots from an american K mart, they are great, but i'm planning on buying a nice pair of 6 '' oakley SI boots.
|
Magnum quality has dropped while every other manufacturer has improved. Finish on toes peel. Try the new Danner Tac boots they are reasonable and comfortable. I have worn Magnums, (still have them but wont wear them), the last 2 pairs of 5.11's I got I returned for less than waterproof issues. I highly recommend the Danners. I wear them at least 12 hours a day, and they keep on going.
|
The newer models look much better, so old. I have an old pair of invisible, I still battle with today's fitness test, because there are quite broken. In their terrible shock, but they are comfortable. Permeability of a new guide looks very beautiful.

Got me a pair of the magnums wear everyday 12 hr shifts had for 3 months now still like new! Love the cut out in back for driving. No water infiltration yet, scuff pad still in good shape ... Im quite happy with them. :)
|
I used to wear 5.11's. Comfortable and lightweight. Went through one pair every 6 months or so. Maybe a little longer.
Coworker wears magnums. Goes through one pair every 3 months and hates them. He's currently looking for another brand to try. I am currently trying Original swats. I like them so far. 6 months on them and still going. Had a definite break in period for me (one to two weeks). I also have a pair of Matterhorn that I've had for years. Replaced the sole and still good to go. Not really a "running shoe" build and has no side zip option though. I imagine Danners are about equivalent as another of my co workers wears them and they look very similar. |

Ive seen the Matterhorn boots and ive been curious to try them. Corcoran boots are made by the same people i think. They have a Paratrooper boot i like. |
He's a big guy and we're very hard on our footwear. I work with him most of the time so I've personally watched that pair from new to it's current state.
|
I still use a shitty pair of Garrison boots myself, but i tried on two of my officers boots on and i accidentally put two different boots on mistaking them for the same because they looked so similar. one of the boots being a Original Swat and the other being a magnums, personally i liked the Swats better then the magnums and defiantly for the price for the price.

If you dont mind, i was wondering what your occupation is? |
I have a pair of magnum 6 inch wp boots. Have had them for 6 months and I've been really pleased with them. They've been waterproof and fairly warm even without wool socks during the winter. Haven't fallen apart on me at all just take proper care of them and you can wear them all day without issues. I'd recommend them but haven't tried many other pairs except for my tan/Camo Avirex steel toed boots they are good as well and work with my multicam setup too.
|
We do just over 11,000 steps in a day. While that might not be excessively high the average person takes 2,500 steps in a day. I hope that helps.
While some of these boots may last longer than others one of the most important things is the fit. Some boots will fit your foot better than others. He doesn't like the magnums but they may be fine for you. My advice would be try them on where available and see for yourself. As far as durability goes though my experience suggest that many of the other boots will last longer than Magnums. |
MK3. Combat boots anyone? :D

I'm still wearing garrison boots issued to me 4 years ago :P and there still in fine shape! But no doubt I'm getting some swats for my future career :)
|
Yeah but my qualms are the sizes. NO ONE HAS SIZE 16!!! Approx. 13 inches long if anyone can find some magnums thatbig I would be very grateful
|
I currently rotate between my S.W.A.T and Magnums at work. Love them both. Airsoft I will wear them sometimes but they are both steel toe due to work regulations. However, I love my blackhawks. Super comfy, super light, super love!
|
Cheap so not so bad: Rothco Desert Forced Entry Deployment Boot (79$)
Good Quality & Price: Original Swat 1150 (119$) Best Quality & Price: Blackhawk! Desert ops (159$) Ultimate Boot: Lowa Elite Desert (300$) |
Well I've used mark IIIs mark IVs for issue stuff. I got a set of oakleys for cheap and they were nice. Comfy got rid of water and dried quickly but they fell apart. Now I have magnums and love them except sandtraps hate to stay tucked in (works fine with socks over the sandtraps).
|
Are they 8 inch?
|
I hate Magnum boots, i used them as my issued boots killed my feet, these did nothing for me, my feet used to get soaked in the field, and cold, so i tried to find out a really good pair of boots that i can wear and that helped with a bit of support, i found an instructor who wore the Haix boots, him and the medics swore by them, so i got a pair and WOW man, best boots ive ever worn. weather proof, gortex, my feet stay dry and warm and look good in my uniform.. i wont wear any others.
i've tried every kinda boot thats out there and these are the best yet. lasted me a while now also and not a sign of tear. http://reviews.uscav.com/UserReview.aspx?productid=7752 |
A french guy had those on one of my courses. They look nice might get me a pair of those next.
Yes the 8" my ankles never get sore in them. I think its the cut out on the back that does it. |
i had crazy shin problems with the magnum boots, no support and not the best for military life, wear fast, tread sucks and wears super fast, no support, bad in wet weather and so on, not good boots i think.. Haix all the way, never had any problems after i got the Haix boots.. 100+

I Just Picked up a Pair Last week. 10/10 in my books, They're almost lighter than my running shoes. Very comfortable. Just don't get them too snug.
|
You won't be disappointed with them. I know I wear them everyday and I'll be wearing them for this Sunday.
|
LOL just talked my gf into buying a pair. From what she says they seem to be fantastic. I'll have to pick up a pair when the weather gets warmer. My 5.11's are the best boots I have but they are thermal insulated so summer games will be hell in them.
