The Force Recon & MARSOC Thread
(I deleted the whole first post as it isn't what it kindov evolved a lot from what it started as)
Welcome to ASC's (un)Official Coyote Brown & Khaki World! Your place for MARPAT and new-old-school woodland in the OEF era. FORCE RECON & MARSOC THREAD http://www.forcerecon.com/images/MSOB-GWOT.jpg Some great resources: http://miairsoft.proboards.com/index...y&thread=35673 (french) http://www.france-airsoft.fr/forum/i...howtopic=99783 http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...ations-Command http://picasaweb.google.pl/dominikusmc/MSOB# http://www.specwargear.com/FSBE2.html And as always... http://www.google.ca/ http://www.americanspecialops.com/im...soc-marine.jpg |
I noticed your setup, it was pretty nice, good job.
Quote:
I was the team leader with a setup like that (RRV+Backpanel & MAP and a PACA), you may have noticed it wasn't very greenside oriented: it's fairly slick for what it is since the sides are open, but its definitely a blackside setup (I was wearing it for actual recon on that field during Red Invasion 2, very annoying). You could try an MBSS (with or without PACA) for a lighter setup, although mag pouches can still hinder your ability to get low or crawl: you might use a 3 mag shingle on the front for easy access and move some mag pouches to a MOLLE belt (MFR get issued an Eagle MOLLE belt w/ suspenders). Although rarely used, Marines also get issued an FLC (or Super FLC) which fits nicely over a PACA or by itself and lets you carry a limited load (but you'll need a separate hydration carrier or canteens). Some people also still use old ALICE gear or other chest rigs etc. which means you don't get armor but you do get a smaller profile and lighter weight. http://www.okinawa.usmc.mil/public%2...214-recon2.jpg |
|
I've seen them wear a few of the HSGI rigs such as the Denali and Silverthrone. Actually the guy on Drake's pic and one of the guy on pugs' pic is using that. I used to own a Warlord and it was a pretty comfy rig, the shoulder strap was super wide and thick enough to offer good support without getting in the way of handling your weapon.

For looks, I really prefer Drake's setup, but for functionnality for recon ops, I see there's obviously better choices.
I'm unsure of the load capacity (edit: and repartition) with a setup in the like of an ALICE kit, as I at least need on me (and I'd prefer to do without a pack): -4+1 mags (Currently, 54 bbs locaps) -2+1 GBB mags -Mag drop pouch -Binoculars -Paper (for notes) -Hydration carrier -Maps -Light snack -Radio (+ headset) I think that's all... If you think of anything else, feel free to post it. In the meanwhile, some more pics I found to try to make a decision... |

Thanks for the info Skeletor.
I guess I'll have to check that out at the surplus myself then! I'm looking at putting together something more greenside-ish myself. The setup I'm considering (kosherness is debatable) is SuperFLC with two (2) triple mag shingles to keep a low profile, with pistol mags, a canteen, utility pouch, or extra mag pouches on the belt. An MOLLE belt can be used if more needs carrying (like 40mm shells). Dunno what pistol you're using, if its a single stack 1911 you can use Eagle style mag pouches (or the PANTAC repros) and remove the adjustable covers, which lets you fit 2 mags in each pouch (so 4 in a double). My biggest problem right now is finding a holster. I'd rather not use a dropleg when crawling around and I can't really find a MOLLE one I like (Eagle G-Code is the closest to acceptable) and I'm not sure the FLC is rigid enough to mount it properly. |
Quote:
|
Great, let me know if what you'll have settled on!
I'm indeed using a single stack 1911 (MEU). For the holster, I was thinking of a MOLLE-mounted Serpa (if I get the MOLLE route or, to an extent, maybe belt-mounted) as I don't have much trust and overall appreciation in a nylon holster (mostly for the reasons enumerated by Brakoo this weekend). |
Quote:
Maybe I can find a setup that works with the MOLLE belt. edit: something like a W*satch (without plates) seems interesting, too. Stick to single mags in the front so you can get low, shove the pistol in one of the mag pouches... |
USMC Greenside
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I've had a USMC greenside kit in the works for a while now, figured I'd show you all and explain it. Besides the older FR/greenside pics above, there's not much photo evidence I can find of what Marines currently wear when not wearing armour. There's the FLC, privately purchased chest rigs, and not much else. I have an old woodland FLC--it's pretty big on me. I got a Tru-Spec RACK--it's way too big on me. Then, I noticed some grunts here and there taking the MOLLE belt from their FLC and attaching old ALICE suspenders, and I thought I'd run with that as a concept. So, I got an ATS War Belt and made my own PLCE-style harness out of some MARPAT cordura. Please keep in mind the whole thing's very much a work in progress, including the pouch set up. From left to right: Two double M4 pouches of my own design and manufacture, Tru-Spec MOLLE Canteen/GP (added surface-mount fastex myself), USSOCOM (that's what the tag says) IFAK, custom utility pouch, two USMC issue frag pouches. The canteen is there for somewhere to store it; the MOLLE on the back of the harness is for an almost-finished MARPAT hydration pouch for my Source USMC 3L tactical, which happens to be where I scrounged the sternum strap for the harness. When designing this (my 2nd attempt actually; the first was a TT MAV/Arktis NL hybrid that was...too big!), some of the major issues were: 1. My size (5'8", 130lbs) 2. Compatible with ILBE Assault Pack. 3. Ability to go prone and not be laying on all my mags. 4. Points on harness to attach rolled-up field tarp/poncho. There are some MOLLE real-estate issues I know, but as I said it remains a WIP, and most issues can be solved through good pouch layout, which will change as soon as I get some more Coyote 498 edge tape. Feedback appreciated! |
Indeed I've never seen this in real pics, but I like the idea and it's looking pretty good! Would you mind sharing some "action pics" with this in the field?
|
I think part of the problem with finding "recent" pics is there just hasn't been much greenside stuff being performed since 2001: maybe some in Afghanistan, but Iraq would be mostly urban and probably still pretty heavily armored considering the nature of urban combat (or being out in the open/desert).
Otherwise you most likely look like a UAV driver :P |

Well since this be MFR kit thread here's my crap
1st line: War belt in CB (made from the belt part of an issue FLC) IFAK 2x FSBE2 frag pouch 2nd line: TAG RRV (yeah I know Eagle is what I should have but hey, got this one when OST had it's TAG gear sale and got a sweet deal) 1x FSBE2 med pouch 2x FSBE2 2x2 Mag pouch 1x EI MBITR pouch 1x FSBE2 frag pouch 1x random strobe pouch 1x FSBE2 Admin panel w/ torch holder Armor: PACA low vis MSA MICH TC2000 w/ Norotos mount< Uniforms: (not pictured) Tan flight suit FROG regular dessie temp. marpat I'm still missing my issue CSM drop pouch wich should arrive this week. As for not having a MEU SOC... well I don't like GBB much. I'm also planning on replacing the PACA soon for a light tan one. So well yeah here's the pic http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/DSC_0091.jpg |
Thanks Vince, your posts are always a good source of information & inspiration!
Too bad I'm too short to wear a battle belt comfortably with any vest, rig or amor (tried it with my CIRAS and my PACA+RRV, and both setups were pushed-up by the belt :/) I'm looking to complete my setups with an FLC, but I'm debating on wheter going the CB or OD route? I've understood that OD were previously issued, but not anymore and that it's now the CB ones. Is that correct? And what do you think would be a fair price for an unissued CB FLC, and an issued OD FLC? |
OD were never issued.
FR used OD rigs in the past but no FLC (they used the older 2 buckles WL ones). I suggest CB as you can use it for a grunt impression (versatility FTW) I've updated my setup since the pic was taken. Moved one of my 2x2 mag pouch to the war belt, put an ACOG pouch on the RRV. Took off one of the frag pouches from my belt as well. Next up sould be getting a spine pack for the RRV, or back plate. Not quite sure yet. |
By spine pack, are you reffering to the MAP?
As for the OD FLC, I was thinking of these http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6...b056blu.th.jpg But actually they seem to have buckles, so that's not an FLC... what would it be actually? But yeah, having a CB one so I can also use if for a grunt impression makes sense. |
The FLC in the pics are WL. Only the lower belt part was WL.
As for the Spine Pack it's indeed same shape as a MAP but it's made to be mounted on an RRV without having a back plate assembly |
Thanks for these precisions.
Last question for now, which units do use the FLC? This info should help me find more pics of them in greenside environnement. Most pics I've found are from exercise Talisman Saber (2007) with the 31st MEU. http://media.militaryphotos.net/phot.../aec.sized.jpg http://media.militaryphotos.net/phot.../abr.sized.jpg http://media.militaryphotos.net/phot.../abz.sized.jpg http://media.militaryphotos.net/phot.../acb.sized.jpg http://media.militaryphotos.net/phot.../ace.sized.jpg |
Regarding woodland Marpat boonies, anyone know where I can get a shorter brimmed one? I've got the issue one, and the 3" brim is HUGE. All the ones I've found online seem to have the same wide-assed brim. I'm looking for something more along the lines of a 2" brimmed one. Does such a thing exist? Thanks!

My CIRAS... It's a WIP, so I am VERY open to suggestions and comments, especially for the 1st line as I'm not very familiar.
If there's no brand named, it's either I don't know or I'm ashamed of owning it, but that'll have to do for now. Colors are a bit off, but there IS a colour difference between Flyye, Eagle, AITES,... AFAIK the current USMC issued 7.62 DMR platform is the Mk11 Mod 0... Does anyone knows if the M110 will replace it in the short time?
I'm interested in getting a DMR, possibly as a winter project for next year, and M110s are damn sexy lol... |

That's correct, the Mk11 Mod0 is Marine Corp, and is classified through the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

Quote:
A limited number (180) of a hybrid of the Mk11 and M110 were purchased by the USMC a few years ago (long before the M110 was actually adopted by the Army) and carries the unofficial designation Mk11 Mod 1; it consists of a Mk11 with a M110 upper so it looks like an M110 but doesn't feature the adjustable stock or ambi controls. A modified version of the the M110 is being used by the Navy and Marine Corps (they're buying them as different kits, including different scopes) under the designation Mk11 Mod 2. AFAIK the only difference from the M110 is the use a M84 Gasbuster style charging handle. The Mk11 Mod 2 purportedly began service with 26MEU in the summer of 2006. A limited number of leftover Mk11 Mod 1s were recently released for civilian sales; this was a sell sheet for it: http://cdn1.thefirearmsblog.com/blog...sr25_1-tfb.jpg A few pics of Marines using either the Mk11 Mod 1 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...1Marines-2.jpg http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...1Marines-3.jpg http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/t...SMC/120235.jpg http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/t...SMC/120234.jpg |

@Conker: if you're doing DMR, keep in mind they're also using the M39 EMR as a replacement for the DMR. The Mk11 seems to be more for spotters and situations where a suppressed rifle is desired. http://www.athenswater.com/images/M39_EMR.jpg |
DMR = Designated Marksman Rifle
EMR = Enhanced Marksman Rifle Whats the difference? |

Took the time to go through all my MARSOC pics for any DM rifles, and that's what I got...
I believe it's Mk 11 Mod 0: #1, 3, 4, 6, 7 Mk 11 Mod 2: #5, 8 M14: #2 Or I am wrong? And Drake posted an M39 earlier which I had too. @Drake, yes it's for DM role. I'm finishing to gather my basic MARSOC operative gear, then probably over the winter I'll work on the DM kit. |
Quote:
#5 is interesting... it has a FH so it's definitely an M110 upper, Magpul PRS stock (non-standard mod), lower doesn't look ambi... looks like someone got a Mod 1 and felt ripped off and installed his own adjustable stock. Just noticed #4 is unusual, too: it's got a RAS collar, so its not a Mk1, it's also got the PRS stock and its not using the usual SR25/Mk11 suppressor (low res image, hard to tell, but it kinda looks like the KAC QD suppressor). It's also not using the usual SR25 optics, instead sporting what looks like a one piece scope mount (KAC?) and an offset/canted Docter Sight. |

Going to be modified again soon when I receive my next batch of FSBE stuff |
Here's my own greenside kit I'm setting up for an upcoming operation.
Any comments? (besides that it isn't easy to see on this picture... I'll take some more with natural lightning tomorrow). There's still some EBB pouches (easy to spot with its color) which I'm transitionning to Flyye/Pantac (or issue when I get a deal). The order has been made this morning, so within a month that should be good. http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/329/img1109.jpg From left to right, on the RRV: Medic Single mag MBITR (I hope to get a TCI MAST to wire the antenna on my back) Single frag x2 Double mag Canteen C-A-T (top) Admin (top) TCI PTT (top) On the ILBE assault pack: Double mag Smoke Smoke Flexcuffs IFAK and a fanny pack. I also got the SU233 for my SOPMOD, but I removed it for now as I don't really need it for greenside ops. I also have a grippod on the way as the TD Battlegrip will go on my Block2 upper. I have the KAC rail covers, but I forgot to put them on for the pictures. I'll take more after the OP with some more natural wear anyway. |
Technically Marine Recon are not issued ILBE system. It's a grunt thing. If you're going for MFR you should get EI Patrol Pack (Pantac has a version of it)
I'd also take off the PEQ15 as I've seen that maybe once in all the pics I've came across. Specter is the flavor of the year but ACOG would be good as well. As for the rig itself, not too bad but I'd question the pouches layout... Are you a lefty? If not I'd move the MBITR to the left side. I know it's all AS but with a real MBTIR you'd have that whip antenna hampering a proper cheek wield of your gun. The centered frags strike me as odd as well, I'd personnaly move them to the side and consolidate the mags together. But that's just me ;) I hope I don't sound too harsh or anything but I know you're looking at a "legit" looking kit |
Sure all comments are appreciated, especially constructive like this!
Good to know for the ILBE, I didn't know that. It would be that one? (link) You mean no PEQ-15 are used for greenside ops? Will do. It's mainly for personal preference as it has a much better FOV and eye relief than any replica TA31 I've seen. And it looks good. And the M4 is supposed to be Block1/2 transition (at least as long as a repro DD M4A1 RIS II isn't available) so it fits that timeline. Comments noted for the pouch layout. I am a righty. You're definitely right that the frags are weird, but I decided to separate the mags after it happened a few times that the way I was lying on the ground, I wasn't able to reach them while trying to keep a low profile. So I'm experimenting with some more to the front and others to the side. The frags happened to be put in the free last space I had, but when I'll get my shingles I'll probably do something similar to yours. |

As for the pack you could also go for EI/LBT 3 day. There's not too many pics showing MFR with packs since they're mostly used in DA or motorized recce role |
Yeah true... Actually I don't even have any post-2006 (MARSOC) greenside, only pre-2006 FR era in my refpics folder.
So I tried on that setup yesterday, and indeed that lonely mag pouch is way too far, I have to get them out with my weapon hand. I'll probably swap it with the MBITR or consolidate them as you said, and just having a mag or two in the MCUU pants pockets in case those on the RRV are out of reach. Thanks for the pack, it's on my tobuy list. |
Haven't seen an RRV in a while either... That's why I stick with the pre-2006 kit.
Nowadays SLFCS had taken over FSBE and the MAR-CIRAS seems to be the flavour of the week |

The "rifleman" version of that pack is soooooooooo rare... You'll mostly stumble upon Recon Corpsman pack. |
Yeah true... but considering the only difference between the Recon and the Corpsman version is an added medical divider (and the tag), if I find a Corpsman pack at a nice price it'll do the job very well.
But that's right, thanks bakercompany of reminding me that! |

The CIRAS & MICH I'm building for my MARSOC inspiration (I say inspiration as I know there's stuff to improve before I can call this an impression).
Any constructive criticism is welcome to make it more realistic. http://i.foxleader.net/as/gear/partiel/IMG_1160.jpg http://i.foxleader.net/as/gear/partiel/IMG_1161.jpg For those wondering, the 3 duck tape stripes on the top are simply to always have some on hand quickly, especially in CQB environnement, as it can be used of looots of things. It's always handy. (Refpic based) http://i.foxleader.net/as/gear/partiel/IMG_1159.jpg http://i.foxleader.net/as/gear/partiel/IMG_1158.jpg I forgot to take a pic of the back of the CIRAS, but it's quite simple: a Source WXP Tactical hydration pack is attached, as well as VIP strobe. I am aware that the Source is mostly a grunt thing, however I do have refpics (2009 IIRC) of these been used by MARSOC operators. Same for the strobe, not very common but still seen from time to time. The Source will be replaced by a MAP as soon as I have some spare money to order it. Note I have a 2nd CAT on the way. I'll put it probably on the left should pad. Pouches are a mix of FSBEII (frag pouches), EI civilian (double M4 mag pouches), Flyye (medic pouch), Source (hydration pack) and Pantac for most of the rest. For the RRV previously posted, I'm replacing everything with Pantac so it will be a whole new setup anyway. EDIT: Don't bother for the watermark, I forgot to uncheck it when I processed it in Lightroom. |
Not bad at all but removed those cateyes from your lid.
If you need any form of IFF slap some velcro on thereand attach either some GID or IRR Also just personnal preferences here but I'd run that shingle on the flap of the CRAS with the frags, move the MBITR on your strong side wiith the double double behind it. You wil still be able to reach for your mag with ease and you'll have 3 up front for much quicker reloads. I'd also mount the frags in a vertical fashion rather than side by side so save up some space and bring the medic pouch forward a wee bit. But as said it's only me and to be honest it looks great as is |
Was this your ref. pic?

I dunno. I guess I'd prefer a Comp M4 over a 553 or Specter. Where I play airsoft, that is.
Here are the other pics: http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-012.JPG http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-007.JPG |
alright so for awhile I've had a fairly oldish grunt Marine impression, tri colour desert BDU's, old type woodland OTV etc. but it's been kinda advancing to the future a little bit with changing out the tri desert with Marpat, newer pouches etc.
so I figure I'd just make a force recon setup. read through this thread and have made my shopping list let me know if I'm accurate Oh! this setup will be gamed, all my guns and gear are gamed frequently so due to the nature of the games I play I may have to change a few details or add a certain piece of kit to be able to game effeciently. (ie, can of bear mace cause we're in the woods alot, or a crane stock on the gun for the battery) but I want to make it as close as possible, but gamable. so IIRC the vest is either a RRV or a land CIRAS, unless they've changed something already, the standard colour for gear is coyote brown correct? (I've seen a few pictures of guys wearing dark earth but wasn't sure if they were FR) also could I mix some OD in there? my canteen pouches are all OD and I'd like not to go out and buy new ones. I'm leaning for the Flyye land ciras: http://www.wargameparts.ca/store/pro...id_product=161 * 1x Admin Pouch * 1x Dual Pistol Mag Pouch * 1x Dual M4 Mag Pouch ( Each Pouch Holds 2 M4 / M16 Mags ) * 2x Single M4 Mag Pouch ( Each Pouch Holds 2 M4 / M16 Mags ) * 1x Smoke Grenade Pouch * 1x Medical Pouch * 1x Large Utility Pouch * 1x Radio Pouch I'd like to stick to Flyye brand gear as much as possible as stated earlier there are minor shade differences in each companies CB and that would annoy me. where else can I get flyye gear in Canada? that seller is out of his basement and only has a limited supply of the stuff. for comminucation I'm still undecided, I want to get that MBITR replica at ROSV but still have to make a decision which is being discussed in the big radios thread. now the belt is where I'm getting lost, it's a molle battle belt obviously but do you guys get the harness/suspender's for them seperatly or does it come with it? I'm liking the right angle belt http://www.flyyeindustries.com/Artic...sp?ProdID=0423 as it's similar to the current belt rig I have, an old ALICE belt with a Y harness from like the 70's. It's the only belt setup that has worked for me, most of the time belt rigs and chest rig's dont work well together, one is always pushing on the other like the bottom of the plate carrier is pushing down on the top of the pouches of the belt. but I assume because they are the same brand they will clear eachother? like an inch gap in between the two would be amazing. thats hard to get with my current setup with the otv being so large to make that happen the belt would be kinda on my hips digging in than on my waist. on the belt I want to put: 2x or 3x canteen's (I don't carry water in a hydro carrier, that's always been really uncomfortable for me the canteen is way better IMO water hanging off your back feels weird) 1x m60 pouch (I need to pack Bino's with me and I use them alot they gotta be accessable, my current rig employs a m60 pouch for them and they fit in it perfect) 1x Ka bar might add a utility pouch or another m60 pouch for general things or probably a dump pouch but I never use them any advice on my belt setup will be helpful I feel I'm missing something there. I'd also like to use a fanny pack for random shit as I usually need crap like electrical tape, pad of paper and pen or something. http://www.flyyeindustries.com/Artic...sp?ProdID=0269 battle belt and a fanny pack will jive well? or will they bunch up and like pinch me or something? Also I see in those pictures they are packing those big drop legish gas mask pouches (like the guys in Generation kill) I could use that as a subsitute for a dump pouch and have been looking for one for awhile actually but am stumped on where to locate one, point me in the right direction? again that would work with the fannypack, warbelt combo? or would three things on your waist be uncomfortable? they look kinda like this one http://www.flyyeindustries.com/Artic...sp?ProdID=0476 but seem to have their own attached belt. now for the backpack, I already have a few but they're maxpeditions so I need something a little more plausible for FR. I'll need two, a little day one for carrying extra ammo, camping propane tank, tipi, extra water bottle etc and a 3 day assault one for milsims. I like these guys' impressions here http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showpos...&postcount=117 and their pack's especially with the bed roll etc. but I see their packs are attached to their chest rigs, I dont want to have to take off my vest just to get to the pack, I'd like to have the backpack seperate from the plate carrier like a normal backpack as I often have to access and don't wwant to have a buddy digging through it trying to find what I want when I can just reach in and grab it. In the past I've had problems with the backpack to plate carrier relationship, one will often affect the other, if the backpack sucks it makes the plate carrier's shoulder straps pinch into me and rub on my collar bone and neck, I feel the weight of both the pack and the carrier very much and it doesn't make for an enjoyable day, if the plate carrier doesn't agree with the pack the pack's straps will often slip off the carrier and onto the edge of my shoulders restricting movement of my gun and making it shoulder incorrectly. how can I fix this and whats a pack that will work well with the Land ciras that I can take on and off quickly like a normal pack? also what do you guys put in your packs? your input is very appreciated I'd love to make a full kit thats not a pain to game. I'm just more or less concerned about the comfortability or pinching of the gear. also the weapons, I see a few full size m16 RAS's in there but mostly M4 RIS's (whats the brand of their particular rail or does it matter?, I'd like to use a full size M16 with an RAS for a change no one would be busting my balls if I used an m16? I was thinking the G&P m16 RAS from cottoni or something from the classic army X series from HAW. that's it for now, I'd like to cover the base gear first before moving into things equipment that goes into the pouches etc. this'll give me a basic setup that I can then build on and add to, if you guys have any suggestion's or help with my questions/concerns please speek up I'd love to hear them. |
Well for the color, we see MJK (khaki) from time to time, and more and more often, however yes the "official" and main color used is still CB.
For the pouches and gear, I've got a bunch of Flyye pouches, mostly new or like new I'm putting up for sale as soon as I get time to take the pics and make the price list. I'll PM you. For the belt, you've got the right one. This is a replica of the Allied FSBEII belt. The M16 is used by grunts only. MARSOC and FR use mostly the 14.5 SOPMOD, and sometimes 10.5. For the backpack, there's the Eagle FSBEII backpack. AFAIK Flyye doesn't have a replica of that one, you'd have to go with the Pantac. I'll get back to your other questions when I'll have some more time. |
Marsoc is part of socom so MJK would be the way to go with a Maritime Ciras ;)

Note: There's MARSOC, some grunts, some [??? guys in tri-color] and possibly 1 SWCC (unconfirmed) advisor. http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-5539C-088.jpg http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-018.JPG http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-013.JPG http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-009.JPG http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-007.JPG http://www.marines.mil/unit/31stmeu/...-0581G-012.JPG http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/...3d47186a_o.jpg Oh and... the grunt with the M16 that has the ACOG, the carry handle and the PEQ16? Seriously? LOL |
That Marine's M16 setup may look goofy, but if it works for him and the mission then it isn't goofy. These guys aren't numpties - they've been around the block once or twice. I'd give them the benefit of a doubt when it comes to loadouts.

Greenside inspiration... Notice that I said "inspiration" and not "impression", mainly for the fact that MARSOC greenside (and even FR) pics are pretty hard to come by.
Please discard the white injury and the death flag in my pocket, these were taken ingame... Also the gun is an Mk12 (not mine) as my own SOPMOD was down that day. http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/6590/mg2237.jpg http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/9281/mg2284.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4391/mg2330.jpg http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/2450/mg2334.jpg I know regarding the pack, this was the standard ILBE assault pack whereas I now have the Recon AP :D |
A little something I'm working on... I know it's Force Recon era (and not MARSOC which I'm mostly working on) but it's too nice for me to not do this.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8132/img1543y.jpg |
Well I'll tell you and maybe we can work something out:
-G2 -XM07 Tailcap and Pressure Switch -USGI IR Cover -Viking Tactics Rail Adapter :p |
Quick question... does Recon/MARSOC have the choice to carry a sidearm or are they always required to carry it?
|
3 Attachment(s)
It's their choice depending on situation, at least for MARSOC. Even if they share a lot, both have their specificities... so can't say for sure for the FR guys.
EDIT: Added a few pics to back up what I'm saying. |

What type of gloves would FR typically use? I'm thinking either Wiley-X CAG-1's, Mechanix M-Pact, sage green flight gloves, Oakley SI Assault gloves (Not really interested in these), and I believe Outdoor Research makes gloves for FR...
|
Back in FR days, it was mostly flight gloves. Not always the sage ones, when the tan CWU was worn they often had the tan gloves too.
Outdoor Research makes stuff for the Marines, not only for FR. |
I know a guy who has the Outdoor Research gloves, he just calls them 'FR' gloves.
He gave me a pic as well: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/152340cf.jpg And I might take you up on that woodland MARPAT MICH cover as well, I might end up trading the Multi tool and an IR tab for a custom Condor MICH 2000. |
Felt like posting his loadout pics as well:
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/DSC00893.jpg And this is a staged shoot at his local field: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ber2010045.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ber2010043.jpg |

Most of my pics turned out shitty... I tried some post-editing to hide it, lol.
I need better lightning in that damn appartement. It's pretty much done. Gun config & paint scheme inspired by the Marjah pictures (but I did not replica the exact same thing). Any suggestions or improvements? (edit:`actually I'm waiting for the Docter mount which I should get today or maybe tomorrow, but that's it) http://img547.imageshack.us/img547/923/img1553e.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8283/img1558eg.jpg http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7741/img1560en.jpg http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/4389/img1563e.jpg http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/9421/img1569e.jpg Lower is the same on both guns, only the upper changes. As you can see I modded the fake IR filter of the M3X to instead serve as a red filter. |
You've got exactly the reason I don't use Krylon. Their "Khaki" (tan) is way too whiteish and their brown is excessively dark.
Did it with an airbrush. Base color was a mix of Tamiya XF-72 "JSDF Brown" and XF-49 "Khaki" (gives a FDE-ish color), then random spot/lines with Modelmaster FS30117 "Military Brown" as well as some with Modelmaster FS31136 ""Insignia Red". I finished by attenuating the places were it was too red with the first mix. Due to shitty lightning in my appartement it might not look exactly as it is, but quite close. I'll try to take some at the sand pit in Rawdon this weekend. EDIT: On a different note... I'm considering switching to FDE PMAGs as we see them more and more all around the services including MARSOC. what do you guys think? (Keep in mind that I do my best to follow the current MARSOC trends (with maybe a few months delay based on the availability of the accessories). |
Does anyone have a better pic of the guy on the right?
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...S/IMG_0121.jpg (Thanks Frozen Tex for the pic) Seems like an interesting kit. |
Anyone have any better evidence of MFR/MARSOC rolling with PRR's besides this:
