Real Sword Type 56 Battery compatibility.
Hello Folks.
Is anyone else suffering from the issue of 9.6V stick batteries not fitting under the top cover of your Type 56? Im using the RS branded 9.6V 2000mah battery from ehobby. Strangely, the G&P 9.6V 2200mah is too wide to fit in the gun. I was also just told that 8.4's arent fitting either. |
I run a Sanyo 8.4 ,it has a flat strap instead of a wire running the length of the battery. That wire is what keeps it from fitting in the gas tube .

I haven't seen the RS one.A buddy said this was the battery to get if I wanted the 56 and ;) that's the one I got. It's still a tight fit and my battery only goes in one way. The strap has to be a 7 oclock ,inside the tube mine has a notch cut at that position for the strap  ( It looks that way to me ).
|
Hmmm, well according to some its best to "cram it in, charge it inside the gun, works fine."
We shall see. |
A friend of mine uses the 9.6 intellect I believe.
|
I use 9.6 intelects. In the gas tube there is a little slot cut out. Thats where I run the wire on the side of the battery when putting the battery in. Try Pm'ing Bandit because he just had a similar problem and he had to rotate the part inside the gas tube with the slot so it lined up right.
|
My teammate had this issue last game, turns out you just need to shove the stick battery in with some force and it will fit.
|
You can fit up to a 12V battery or a 9.6V stick made with 4/5A cells without a problem. It is tricky to insert though. You need to line up the wire on the side of the battery just right with the slot in the gas tube and it requires a bit of force to insert.
I've read some reports online that the edges of the gas tube and the notch have some burrs on some T56s, and owners will dremel the edges a bit to smooth it to make the batteries easier to insert. I personally run a 9.6V Intellect battery. I inserted it into the gun and just leave it there. It was tight, but it fits. I charge the battery in the gun. |

The wires aren't ran correctly... |

Amos: gun has never been opened as far as I know.
Crunchy: Crap. More adjusting required I guess. Edit: OK the spine is definitely not on the bottom when I thought it was...Yay. |
I quit.
this battery REFUSES to go in on any angle. The outer plastic packing is ripped, and now the spine is starting to shave itself on the inside of the gun. Now I get to spend MORE money on Lipo stuff (if the gun can take it) |
Just look down into the gas tube and you can see the notch. Even better, just remove the gas tube and inspect it out of the gun. The notch in the gas tube should be about the 7 oclock mark. You're damaging your battery by installing it wrong. And yes, you've probably fucked up your battery doing that.
|
I can see the notch no problem. Its the actual fitment of the battery going in. Its too thick or something which is driving me insane.
|
If the notch is too narrow, remove the tube and hit it with a dremel.
|
Yep. Thats the next step which im trying to avoid but looks like I cant.

elite 9.6v battery can go all the way down the gas tube but its a tight fit http://i38.tinypic.com/35aojo7.jpg my g&p 9.6v only managed fit 2 cells |
Oh yea.. The G&P cells are not 2/3
They're a tiny bit fatter and longer to make up for the extra MAH |
Has anyone tried batteries from cheapbatterpacks? I have 3 Elites and they range from loose fit to not fitting.

Since were on batteries, can this gun handle LiPo's? (its the 400 fps version) |
Thanks. Good to know.
I believe LiPo is alright with this. I was talking to a teammate about it and he said it would be fine. I never went through with it since I have to buy the LiPo and a new charger and at the time, getting RS mags were next to impossible. |
Heres another reference pic:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/IMG_0506.jpg I took it apart to see how the insides worked and such. Thats as far as the battery goes right? The vented gas port section takes on a star shape on the inside and I dont think it goes that far. My main concern is having space for the connectors, doesnt look like there is much room |
