AngelusNex June 2nd, 2009 09:40

Play with it.

Ryda55555 June 2nd, 2009 09:50

i have been playing with it for a while, ive spent over $1000 just on accessories since febuary 14th so im trying to conserve money

AngelusNex June 2nd, 2009 10:26

Ok ok, serious answer. Get a crap load more low, mid or real cap mags.(many games don't allow hicaps and the low, mid and real caps don't rattle) When you get an ACOG, make sure you get a magnified one, there are red dot one with zero magnification. Beyond that, All i can say is play with it (at games) till something breaks then replace that. your internals should be solid, except for the low fps (though my stock G&G has more range and accuracy with it's 340 fps then the redwolf custom M14 firing at 445 fps)

so more mags and a magnified acog sounds good

airsoft engagements aren't all that far. if you need magnification to see it, because you can't see it with your naked eyes, you probably won't hit it!

Please stop repeating stupid quotes from other forum members. Magnified sights are more for finding targets then being able to see far, I've had to use My ACOG to distinguish what camo pattern I was aiming at to know if they are friend or foe.

Magnified sights are amazing for airsoft. 2-4x magnification is a big help for scouting, ranging, being able to place your shots (aim for someone's chest and not his head), etc.

It also helps for those who don't have perfect vision but don't quite need to wear glasses/contacts all the time.

Crunchmeister June 2nd, 2009 13:18

Magnified optics have a valid place in airsoft. That being said, anything over 4x is a waste on anything other than a high performance sniper rifle. A RDS or holosight with 3-4x magnifier, ACOG or Elcan is an ideal sight for an AEG used for outdoors.

meh. I was speaking more of the higher magnifications. I have actually don't recall reading another member's post saying what I did. whatever.

Ryda55555 June 2nd, 2009 15:59

k true, i dont have perfect vision but dont need to wear glasses so it would be decent also i like to spot my target before i shoot at them instead of spraying out all my ammo like with my pmag.

Ryda55555 June 2nd, 2009 16:01

i just trying to decide if $120 for an acog is good? cause i've owned an aimpoint replica, an eotech replica, a 8x scope that i tried because i had it on my bbgun, and a tasco red dot and none of them suited me or my gun well

theguy June 2nd, 2009 17:09

Ryda55555 June 2nd, 2009 17:31

All his accessories havent let me down

theguy June 2nd, 2009 17:34

Ahh, good call, all of Huangs optics are apperently great, and pretty reasonably priced too

KND June 2nd, 2009 17:56

Get a real ACOG if you want to be look cool !!.. lol.. Don't waste Money on replica ACOG. It's best for show but not for game, I found out that none of those replica ACOG work for me espeically eyes release from from then to my eyes. Better use Iron sight is good though. I never missed a shot with my iron sight.

Get an Bushnell holosight is your best bet. It's way better than ACOG, and get an Elcan 4 x magnifier if you want some magnification.

KND

Crunchmeister June 2nd, 2009 18:44

Sorry KND, but that's a horrible suggestion. The real ACOG is about $1500 and export restricted under ITAR, so good luck getting one. And FYI, in terms of performance and eye relief, the Huang replica ACOG is identical to the real thing. If you hate the replicas (and Huang's are excellent replicas), then you'll hate the $1500 real one just as much. And it's

To me there are 2 viable choices available in airsoft. There are the multiple Elcan replicas (I use the CA model on my C7A2, even though it's a replica of the US Marines M145 instead of the Canadian C79), or a red dot or holosight with a 3-4x magnifier.

Ryda55555 June 3rd, 2009 09:19

no way am i forking out another $1500 or the price of a bushnell and magnifier thats way too much for my liking

Might eventually catch em on sale in the classifieds for $300 or less (real holosights)... but real steal ACOGs are nowhere near worth the price.

Crunchmeister June 3rd, 2009 11:11

IMO, the Hurricane holosight replicas are really the only way to go for airsoft when getting a replica. My older 1st gen Busnhell holosight is really nice, but dim in bright day light - the same issue as cheaper RDS holosight models. Not sure if newer generation Bushnells have the same issue or not. But my Hurricane is better than the Bushnell, I think, although I do love the Bushnell anyway.

The other option is a real EOTech, and you don't see those under $400 very often. And quite honestly, I think they're overkill unless you can get a used one really cheap like I did.
