Cabelas Sig 552

Hey guys,
Does anyone know what brand / make of Sig 552 that Cabelas is selling?
Is it the JG version or Swiss Arms??
https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pag...2=1387&ID=5166
Thanks.
Phil.

Disco_Dante February 11th, 2009 20:51

JG is the Swiss Arms version.

kain128 February 12th, 2009 00:02

So, is the one that Cabelas is selling a JG?

Prometheus February 12th, 2009 00:34

Its a Cybergun re-brand of a JG.

kain128 February 12th, 2009 13:49

Do you know if it can be upgraded with TM internal / external parts?

Disco_Dante February 12th, 2009 13:51

Yes it can.

kain128 February 12th, 2009 14:48

Thanks for the help....

Deaf_shooter February 14th, 2009 18:24

so this brand is good or what?

Disco_Dante February 14th, 2009 18:33

See that big long gun in my signature? It's a JG SG550, its exactly the same internally apart from the longer inner barrel, and I put in a new hop up rubber. On the 552 you won't need to replace the rubber, because you probably won't be looking for as much range as I am. They're very reliable internally, but I would suggest a reshimming.

What's your definition of "good"? I find a lot of new guys get pissed when we say anything under $350-$400 isn't "good" (and that number USED to be $600) and actually suggest some "good" guns like CA/TM/G&P etc.

Deaf_shooter February 14th, 2009 23:05

my define of good is won't break down easily if handle careful

even if your careful a lemon exists and even breakdowns, failures, internal fuckage (is that a word? :D) or bad QC that makes the "good" gun, as you say

My advice: If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Deaf_shooter February 15th, 2009 00:10

well I went to Xtreme tactics since they has Sig 552 for rental, I don't know brand but it do wonderful.

Disco_Dante February 15th, 2009 00:12

It was either a TM or a JG. I highly doubt it was ICS.

Wrath144 February 15th, 2009 00:44

They're Swiss Arms, there's a bunch of boxes in the back.

bpbcc1 February 15th, 2009 11:37

Sig 552 at ET

They are the same items available from Cabela's and are used as a rental. ET has told me they work quite well but might not be as tough in the end as something full metal. Keep in mind these are for rent. One can reasonably expect that you might treat it with a little more care than someone out on a stag night first time combat trial. Even then, given the price difference, a place like ET could go through 2 or 3 of these guns before reaching the CA price point. Just think of how you can build up your armoury in the same way.

Swiss Arms doesn't make airsoft guns. They're either JG, TM, or ICS. They may be rebrands with Swiss Arms licensing.

I bought this one back in the fall.

gamed it once (in subzero temp) and the piston head blew apart.

around $200-$300 later:

-DeepFire titanium tooth piston
-Modify aluminum piston head
-Modify aluminum cylinder head
-Sorbo Pad
-Prometheus M100 spring
-Modify air seal nozzle
-Shim kit
-Modify double-groove stainless bushings
-new Hop up rubber & bucking
-Madbull tightbore barrel
-11V Lipo battery

OK now, after all that, I know my way around a V3 mechbox pretty good, and I've got a really good performing machine. Nice and quiet, precise, and quick on the ROF. Not the way I'd recommend for everyone else to go, but it worked for me.

Trapper1 February 16th, 2009 13:33

I have one and i love it, I've had one problem where an o-ring split and jammed the piston causing the sector gear to strip the teeth off it but a few bucks and that was fixed. Just threw a hurricane tune up kit in and reinforced piston and i'm good to go.

Deaf_shooter February 18th, 2009 22:36

hard to believe they is same brand, box said there is top rail and one side rail, I rent XT(Xtreme tactics) one, they don't have top rail, just one side rail. But I will check box again. I does love Sig 552. only issue I have is I need outdoor gun since I have Mp7 For CQB. I still think Mp7 is supreme CQB weapon. I test Sig 552 from XT, for distance. from one outer wall to other outer wall. idk how it do since scope system suck. I know XT's outer wall is least 75+ ft apart in certain area (dark area, for any local who know place, tan side door to black side door I feel this is 75+ ft)

theshaneler February 18th, 2009 22:43

the XT sig 552 are from SIR they are the same ones! they do fine outdoors, wont get range like an AK or a M16 but they are good, talk to diamond SEA on MAA site he was using a sig 552 outdoors last season i belive.

scubasteve February 18th, 2009 22:46

The SIG 552 that XT uses were all bought from cabela's.
Edit DAMN shane you beat me to it! lol.

Deaf_shooter February 18th, 2009 22:47

This is the one you'll need: Tokyo Marui Mount Base for SIG Series
