Rules For Music

Just wondering if there are any rules for listening to music during CQB play, only one ear, so i can hear other things(REFS, Players).

Thinking of putting some Slayer, disturbed, motorhead, stuff like that on my old mini iPod, to "pump" me up i guess.

So is there some un-spoken rule about music?

I know when I ride in a motorcycle group, some are really aginst music in the ear, some are cool with it.

Thanks

D

Music is a huge distraction. You need 100% of your wits about you, not fumbling with your i-Pod and taking 80% of your concentration and listening skills away by listening to music.

I'm sure each venue will have their own rules about this, but at any rate, not a smart thing to do.

Shirley January 5th, 2009 22:50

Cool!! You ride motorcycles too?
Damn it, I'm going to create a thread for bikers so we can ride around Spring.

demco11 January 5th, 2009 22:53

Do whatever you want, just dont let it distract you or others around you.

Dexst January 5th, 2009 22:54

Has Anyone Tryed it?

cbcsteve January 5th, 2009 23:01

I remember one time there was music on during a game at TTAC for a CQB lights out skrimish, with music it masked the players footsteps so it was hard to tell whats going to happen next, it all depended on your reflexes and if you had a flashlight.

But other than that music in games is definitely a distraction you can try it at Defcon and you will notice right away that it can be quite distracting

Jimski January 5th, 2009 23:01

seriously no, you need your hearing
unless you don't care getting owned.

The Saint January 5th, 2009 23:06

I've never seen any rules about music. However, if it's loud enough to distract other people, it'll likely lead to the host intervening.

If you need music to psych you up, though, you're better off playing FPS. Try to remember that Iron Eagle was just a movie, and music doesn't make you a better fighter. ;)

Dexst January 5th, 2009 23:11

Never Heard of iron eagle. but it would be just in MY ear, no one else would hear

MadMorbius January 6th, 2009 11:10

I don't see a problem with it, although I think it'll be a real hindrance for you.

Brian McIlmoyle January 6th, 2009 11:22

Sure do it... I also suggest a patch over one eye. and a hand tied behind your back.

That.

Look at movies, the soldiers with his iPod is always the first one to die:rolleyes:

Brian McIlmoyle January 6th, 2009 12:55

Not to mention

that many hits can only be perceived by sound ... so you are setting yourself up to be labled a cheater because you will miss hits you should take.

that's when you switch to good 'ole full auto and ensure that they've "heard" you lol

Crunchmeister January 6th, 2009 13:10

Like Brian said - you may as well wear an eye patch and have a hand tied behind your back. Add a nice heavy lead boot to go with that...

I don't see it as being against the rules for most games, but you're certainly not doing yourself any favours.

Blackthorne January 6th, 2009 13:24

Slayer?

Fucking newb. Everyone knows CQB requires Gwar.

joking.... joking...

:D

Dexst January 6th, 2009 15:06

well since nobody sounds engouraging, looks like a no-go.

maybe for one game to see how it goes.

Crunchmeister January 6th, 2009 15:09

Now, on the way TO a game, I can get pumped up while listening to Slayer's War Ensemble. Few songs can get me worked up like that one can... :p

Brian McIlmoyle January 6th, 2009 15:30

I often play

Industrial techno music during TTAC3 sessions...

It is really bad.. and very distracting.. coupled with strobes and Smoke.. you can't tell which way is up.

Yes ... it was very distracting hahah, can't even read the shadows with all the lights and can't hear footsteps with the music. But it helped train my reflexes to react faster when I do come into contact

Dynamo January 6th, 2009 16:52

someone had to do it.

YouTube - Iron Eagle - Doug in the Simulator

I really have no idea why you'd think we'd encourage it. Most of us don't need music to get psyched up to play airsoft.

And thank you Dynamo!

Harbinger of Darkness January 6th, 2009 17:03

I sing at games on occasion. Usually when I'm trying to seduce The Saint. ;)

Bissa January 6th, 2009 17:40

one of the major annoyances in blade trinity, is when the girl is in the back of the SUV setting up a playlist for when they are hunting vapires. and everything above is the exact reason that I hate that scene.

In that case it would not matter.. everyone knows that vampires move silently... geez where you been?

FOX_111 January 6th, 2009 18:16

Yay for teamwork if nobody can comunicate to you.

CQB is a team work effort, not an 1 man army, video game style assault.
