HOLY! Comtac II replicas!
HOLY CRAP ebaybanned is about to get some Comtac II replicas! 64 USD is quite cheap but it doesnt say if it has any functions like the real one. im assuming some sort of electronic amplifier is in there due to the fact it uses a battery. Huang~ when are you gonna get some, i gave up on ebaybanned sigh.

i wonder if someone will find out the hard way if the replicas offer hearing protection.
Hopefully you can adjust the volume on the amplifier or they are useless. They also need to make plugs to fit milspec radios and not just toy ones. |
I am aware. It is from Element. I am waiting for a confirmation from another manufacuter if their comtac actually supports noise reduction etc features or just look like real one. I may get some Element's comtac too.

Little big for my liking. Looks like an aviation headset.

For protection, I will stay safe and wear my peltors. If I am going for a cheap alternative and a specific kit, then I would try these...but they would have to have a better PTT and quick detach for saber radios..
the mic has to have a human length on it too so it actually reaches your mouth unlike the other tasc ones being sold. |

quoting from the Taiwanese forum member who has one testing right now. he said it does have some kind of noise reduction system like the real thing. he didnt mention amplifying soft sounds though. And it also have 3 types of pins available, motorola, icom, and kenwood.
|
Bare minimum it has to have sound amplification otherwise they are useless. Sound protection is for real steel...If you need that buy real Peltors.
|
Have to agree. I have the real deal, and the amplification is the only thing that makes wearing them worthwhile in the heat. Being able to hear amplified ambient noise while still hearing clear radio comms AND filtering out gunshots makes 'em a winner.
If the clones can't amplify and provide only marginal comms, they're not good for much more than an LCF modifier. Particularly if the PTT is as "reliable" as the ones on the other knockoff headsets. |
thats the worst. buy real ones for 180

i just saw a real peltor comtac II with boom mic, peltor PTT, and downlead go for 250 on ebay... much better than any replica will be. this is worse than fake eotechs.
|
And then, people will find out how hot it is to play with these in summer. My real peltors are for CQB only.
I tried to field them on 2 occasions during summer... I gave up after 10-15 minutes. |
Once Ebaybanned has them or Huang, I volunteer to shoot with them to test noise cancelation. I believe the ComTac damps anything above 82 db. I could do a quick test when them come in, I know my SwatTacs, black opposed to the OD green ComTac, will cut/damp even my hands clapping loudly together, so if the replica fails, I doubt it will work for real-steel. Probably won't do this in an indoor range, especially with pistols, I most likely will do it outdoors with a rifle though. Again I'll share my results as soon as I can get a set and find time to test them.

These are just replicas.. It's not like you're going to bring these into real combat situations..
It's a toy, it's a replica. Don't expect much, but if you do, buy yourself a real one. Yes they look big, are you guys actually going to bring these on the fields to play airsoft? Having these on, and playing in game, you won't even hear your enemies coming, or firing at you. lol |

That's how the real one works. :P |
i dont expect them to be too great but its mostly aimed towards geordos who do not want to dish out too much cash to get the right looks. im trying to find some decently priced comtac IIs on ebay as well but most of the better priced ones always only ship within US lolz....

And of course, anyone who's selling the entire kit for that low a price isn't telling you something. Quote:

My real peltors block every sharp noises when they are set to maximum. Snaping my finger near the mic will cut the sound to 50% or less. It's not really usable for outside games, because you need to hear and understand everything you hear. But for CQB, it's ok after getting used to. Everything become louder. Every BB bounce sound like it's on you, even if it's 10-20m away. Every AEG sound like a real machine gun. |
I received mine yesterday...Expect a review shortly.
|
I just got one from Haung for $90.00 shipped and its for my motarola talk about and it works great!
